Respect for Volt-In-Box Soul of Chogokin

I like this one more than the original release, dammit!

Due december, the GX-31V Voltes V Respect for Volt in Box version pays homage to the original toy with a completely new color scheme, and the ability to transform into tank mode.

One has to wonder if this is the version of the SOC that will be released in the US by Toynami?

I'm pissed that NOW they

I'm pissed that NOW they give it double hinged elbows.

What they need to fix is how the torso combines with only friction and put it actual clips (or magnets). Just SOMETHING to make it stronger, not to mention the floppy joints.

I kinda regret getting the SOC due to the engineering problems.

I'LL PASS...

As much as I'm a huge fan of Voltes V, I'm passing this version up.

I just HATE the stickering all over the place, those massive antennae on frigate and lander are just ridiculous, and the Volt-tank is a "feature" it can live without. As for the improvements on the bazooka, joints, firing features and paint, they should have been on the original GX-31 in the first place.

Shame on you, Bandai…

LITERAL Respect for Volt-In Box

What would be interesting to see if Bandai actually made a version that is a copy of the original Godaikin but with the aesthetics and techonolgy of the GX-31. If they're paying homage to it, might as well to it to the hilt. Heck, even copy the individual selling of the 5 volt machines.

It'd be awesome to have an 18-inch die-cast monster with show-accurate features :)

With the exception of all

With the exception of all the labels, this is actually how I thought they were going to do the original GX-31. Especially with all the white detailing on his head. So I'm actually glad they're doing this one, and I will probably eventually pick it up. At the very least, it's an option for collectors who want the more vintage look.

The tank mode doesn't really interest me as much because he'd stay in robot mode 99.9% of the time, but it's a nice addition anyway.

version of the SOC that will be released in the US

I haven't bought the original. If the speculation is correct and this is released in the US, it'll be a definite purchase for me.

Other Super Robots please…

I do hope that Bandai will have other Super Robots in mind for future SOC releases. It'd be interesting to see Mekanda Robo in all his 70's funky glory.

what is the point of this

what is the point of this release, besides the new elbows?

If I want a vintage style VOLT IN BOX, I'll buy a vintage VOLT IN BOX. Why would anyone spend $200 on this?

Didn't Bandai make enough money off of this the 1st and 2nd time around? Talk about double dipping! Sounds like a cheap way to exploit fans of Voltes V, who are well known to be among the hard-core of the hard-core when it comes to robot collecting.

$1000 vs. $200

Think of it this way: If you're willing to part with a $1000 for a hefty toy that's fragile, then go for it. Otherwise, settle for the GX (either version) that's playable and much more affordable.

Troubled times dictate everything nowadays…

this is definitely my

this is definitely my prayers answered from my comment on the GX-31 review(http://www.collectiondx.com/node/936)
but honestly i kinda hope they didn't have to do this dx color scheme and
sticker stuff.. it makes him look like a toy for 5 year olds...and as far as
I can remember the original volt-in-box didn't have that white outline on the
laser sword...hmmm..
but the elbow joint is an answer to my prayer...
I'll still probably wait for the GX-31R instead. And it should have the same accurate colors
from the GX-31 but all the functions from this one..
