12 comments postedMany thanks to you Andrew for covering Southern Cross in another podcast; I at least am glad that I am not the only fan of this show. I remember the good old days when I was a young teenager (bear in mind I'm British) watching Robotech on DVD and buying a Region 1 Player so I can import the original shows from the States. To this day I hold Southern Cross honestly on the same pedestal as Macross in terms of being an enthralling, good old-fashioned space opera that holds up on repeated viewings; despite the unfortunately rushed albeit solemn conclusion.
Really happy to see the show get more exposure, thanks again Andrew.
I had a lot of fun re-watching the show and making notes for this podcast too. Don't tell Daryl though since he an Gerald were hating on the show in their recent Anime82 appearance :d
I'm progressing through Orguss again as well so I can round out the Super Dimension trilogy.
Well I am considering on my movie podcast having bonus episodes focused on TV shows and at some point will cover Southern Cross with my co-host. We welcome guests on our show at any time, so if you wanted to be a guest on a future episode of my show all about it then that would be awesome.
I'd be down on that. Just keep the recording times gentle on a guy in the EST. My nerd powers for staying up late aren't what they used to be.

Great show and i enjoyed hearing your animals in the background.
What I loved about SDSC was the great ensemble cast it had, all the characters were well developed and as you stated seemed to have a genuine warm rapport with each other. That way it is done It really is unique to this anime.

So I've finally caught up with the episodes and since I now have an account for reasons other than just to comment on the podcasts, I wanted to chime in with some stuff that's been on my mind:
- The download link for ep 14 is broken. That's the only one I don't have.
- I think you really should work on getting a permanent co-host, or at least a guest host every 4 out of 5 episodes. Having someone to bounce your ideas and opinions off of makes for a more entertaining listen and it seems you're already on your towards that if the last couple of episodes were any indication. (Psst, if you still want to I'm totally down with co-hosting an episode where we pis...discuss the Votoms OVAs)
- I know alot of people don't like TFwiki's "The Funny Stays" attitude, but this is the first I heard of accusing them of being un-objective. Is that really the case? I know they like add phrases like "Yes this crap actually happened" to the end of event summaries but I never really stumbled upon something on the site that didn't deserve that kind of snarkiness. Because really who wants to talk objectively about Kiss Players?
Ah darn. I knew episode 17 was missing but I don't have a copy of that myself. I'll check to see I still have it. I'm wasn't too keen on keeping episodes on my computers a while back. Again I must ask if some data pack rat has some early episodes.
But yeah I'd totally be down for discussing the Votoms OVAs. Just let me know what's a good time for you and your Skype name. I always have guest hosts record their audio separate so I can synchronize them in post production. I personally use Audacity to do this but any program will do.
Honestly my stance on the TFwiki is that a fan wiki should strive to have a neutral tone like any reference source and leave the editorializing for you know, everywhere else on the internet :3
Most fan wikis I've seen are pretty good at staying neutral. Yeah I know it's kind of silly to expect objectivity from something done by volunteers but I feel like nothing but pointless in jokes and fannish wanking doesn't help new fans out and can be a turn off for long time fans like myself. I do realize trying to wrangle thirty years of Transformers media can drive anyone crazy and a little levity is not a bad thing. I just don't see the point of captioning images of Jean's silly robot from Victory with some tidbits about idiotic fans from back in the newsgroup days. And the page about Blacker is kind of distracting.
But whatever, I'm just a viewer with an opinion :D
Ah, that explains the music going on and off with Carl. Guess that means I have to pull out my mic and use the PC now since I was planning on using my iPod Touch instead. Anyway, I'm acewhatever on SKype, gtalk and yahoo. Add me on one of the latter two so we can get a feel for when we're both online (blasted 8 hour difference). Personally for the next two days I'm gonna be busy attending a local game convention, but generally I'm always on IM services at home.
Oh. Well if you can pull a file off the iPod that would work too. Renato used his portable recorder to get his end.
I could be wrong but I don't think the iPod Touch can run Skype and the Voice Memo function at the same time.
