Today we're covering Vortex, the Super FX game for Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Transformers for PlayStation 2, and The Super Dimension Fortress Macross for PlayStation 2.

I realize this is apparently an old podcast, but I'd like to add a cool little tidbit for Sega's Macross game for the PS2. It was mentioned that playing as Hikaru changes the ending for the final DYRL mission. There's a couple other instances where you can change the outcome of missions, namely those in which Kakizaki dies! If you fly using the poor shmuck's colors, the end of the TV mission ends with some rather somber music and a hilarious picture of an uneaten steak. As for the DYRL mission...you don't even get to play it! The stage ends right in the opening cutscene as soon as Kakizaki is shot down. You'll get an automatic D Rank for the mission and, again, sad music but a funny game over screen. It's this little attention to detail that makes this Macross game so fun. A VS mode would've been a nice addition (though as is mentioned, ACE2 and ACE3's is quite a good substitute), and more missions couldn't have hurt either. It honestly doesn't take too long to clear the game and unlock everything. That said, I agree with all the praise for the game mentioned in the podcast, and definitely recommend it for any Macross or mecha fan. It's leaps and bounds better than Battlecry ever was, even if it's about a quarter long than that game was.
I'd like to close this little message with one last thing. Vortex is a pile of crap.

Not fair that Andrew's leaving but I have to say I noticed that he was appearing less and less. I didn't realise that Andrew did toy reviews. Must check those out.
On the subject of Vortex, I too was suckered into renting it on the back of Starfox. God, the game just plain sucked. Just moving around in some of those levels was stupidly painful. Arrghh!!! So stupid! Ok, I was going to stop posting now.
