I am so absolutely tempted to

I am so absolutely tempted to preorder S.H. Figuarts Gavan. I heart Metal Hero so much. I just wish they could do more than make him a Web Exclusive. Gavan deserves better.

I also think Gavan deserved a regular release. The Showa Riders seem to be selling well, judging by how quickly they sell out at Amiami, so I think there's enough demand for Figuarts of Showa-era tokusatsus.

Perhaps, if the new movie does well, we may get a regular release of Gavan Type-G...

Unfortunately, from what I have read, the new Gavan movie tanked. So it was actually a smart move on Bandai's part to make the Gavan Figuarts an exclusive since it would seem that the market for Metal Hero is not as strong as Kamen Rider or Super Sentai.

Yeah. There are a few devoted Metal Hero fans, but without some sort of show to keep interest alive any form of merchandise is doomed to fail hard in Japan.

Perhaps I can clarify a bit

Perhaps I can clarify a bit on the whole Fate series thing. It started from the visual novel Fate/Stay Night. A visual novel is essentially a video game where the primary "gameplay" is reading with a number of still images, sound effects, music, and occasionally voice acting. The only point where the player has any input is a number of choices the game will give you that will determine which "route" the story takes and whether your character will succeed or reach a dead end. A more well known example of a visual novel would be the Ace Attorney series with Phoenix Wright. A lot of times hentai scenes are added into to them to broaden appeal when released on PC, and are later taken out on subsequent ports to consoles, as was the case with Fate/Stay Night. They also often spark anime adaptations, which is really how Fate/Stay Night got popular. You're seeing these figures now because an anime prequel to the visual novel called Fate/Zero recently aired and was very well received.

The Gavan shown in the banner

The Gavan shown in the banner pic is based on the new protege from the movie. It's hard to tell at a glance but his armor replaces the old style lights on the chest plate with touch pad style buttons. I can understand why they want to do a movie only design as an exclusive.
