Eva unit 05 gets reimagined as a four legged wheeled warrior!
Due out in June from the Revoltech 2.0 lineup - sculpted by Yamaguchi! Revoltech Eva Provisional Unit-05 Series No.069 is fully articulated and comes with a host of accessories. 16cm tall, 2,286 yen, due June 2009 from Kaiyodo.

20 comments postedThis is such a large Revoltech, very lanky looking... I'm surprised that Kaiyodo didn't put it up with the DX Revoltech line and charge more. I don't know if I'd pick this one up though since the Eva designs have never been that big for me, aside from the Mass Production and Unit-0.
I can accept this as just an exotic giant robot design, but not as an EVA; it's just way too radical to be one of those, and kinda blows the design style of the series/movies out of the water.
Perhaps when I see it in action, and understand why it's like this, I'll reconsider...
I'm still trying to figure out when those long spindly antennae are on top of its utility wings. Perhaps this is Anno's way of slipping in some Greek mythology in- utilizing a jousting centaur...?

I'm pretty sure they're flyswatters. Obviously, the Angels must be utilising a new, small footsoldier-ish grunt, which the 05 can just bat away.

Notice that the Revoltech version of Evangelion Unit-03 is displayed as well in that last picture, though very tiny. I went to the site that's selling Unit-05 to view the larger version of that picture.
Unit-03 has gone through a minor redeco as well... Though it appears to have the same physical appearance, the head, upper arm displays, hands, waist, and knee & ankle guards have been recolored. In short, while it will remain mostly black, a white strip has also been added to the waist and front of the utility wings to conform with the other "Rebuild..." EVAs, and the forehead is now a dark red (perhaps to match it with Unit-02's redeco).

Sadly, it appears as if it's a magazine exclusive. Shame, because it looks really good, especially with the new mouth and neck joints. Now we need an infected Unit-04 (or was that 03), and I'll have all the Eva I need apart from the Soul Spec.
Unit-03 was the one that was infected. Unit-04 just... disappeared, and took a few hundred square kilometers of Nevada with it.
Wait- what's a store-exclusive?

On /toy/ (that ever reliable source of information) they were complaining how -03 was a magazine mail-away/Friend Shop exclusive, I think.
i have this unit, and from aside the coloration, the unit's sculpt is also entirely new, the torso is not as small it's predecessor's, and the shoulder mounts are not connected like the previous Evas either-it swivels on one joint. Also the color tone appears black, but it has a very dark blue sheen to it, and many more little things that i could go into detail
Oh, good-! It was supposed to have that just-off-black coloring in both series and Rebuild. You can tell in the show by the reflections on its armor- they're not gray or white, but rather a dark blue.
(This is kinda like Misato's hair- it looks purple, but is supposed to be black with a purple sheen even in the series.)

it seems Kaiyodo are in a EVA frenzy now instead of gurren lagannn.

I didn't see rebuild. How does this model get around the power cord issue?
No one knows the answer to that yet, save for the production company- Unit-05 (and Unit-06) appears in the up-coming "Evangelion 2.0- You Can [Not] Advance". Since Unit-04 was the test model for an independent power source (but disappeared during the installation & testing phases of construction), all subsequent EVAs don't need the power cord, so presumably this one doesn't either.

This EVA is to work in the tunnels to protect Lilith in Central Dogma, at least that's part of it's role? Those spatular things on it's shoulders are the power connection I think. Like a cable car.

Did Gainax were LSD or somethin' and then with a lil' jeeg when they did this?
Studio Gainax was responsible for the series "Neon Genesis Evangelion" and the movies "Evangelion Death and Rebirth" & "The End of Evangelion".
However, Studio Khara- which Eva-creator Hideaki Anno formed separately- is producing the "Rebuild of Evangelion" quadrilogy from scratch. So they are the ones responsible for the revamped Unit-05, not Gainax.

Sorry my bad... but it still feels like they kind of ripped off jeeg with the legs on the bottom, but if wallet allows after urchasing SIC Ichigo and Cyclone... I think I'll get it.
Maybe it's because I'm not a diehard Eva fan,but I think this thing is awesome. DO WANT like the desert DO WANTS the rain.
i should be receiving this unit soon, i like the design of the eva, it just makes me wonder if this unit was a salvaged eva...
