I'm happy to say that the Flash Gordon action figures did well enough to warrant another run. To be fair, they aren't the best figures in the world, but they are the ONLY Flash Gordon figures in the world, and thats saying something.
The exclusive offering for SDCC was a Flash Gordon in civilian clothes - his white shirt with the Flash logo on it. The figure also comes with that metal egg that Flash uses as a football. Also shown were prototypes of Prince Baron, Dale and Klytus!
While I was purchasing my convention-exclusive Flash Gordon, who did I see signing autographs? None other than FLASH HIMSELF - SAM J JONES. HOLY HELL!
Damn right I got an autograph.
They also had Big Lebowski toys there, some new.

While standing in line to get my bag-o-crap for buying a ticket, I spotted a few familiar faces setting up tables in the autograph area they set up near the ticket line.
The ones I saw were Tim Thomerson (Jack Deth baby), Sam J Jones, Marc Singer (Beastmaster) and Virgil (WWF). They had a really dejected look about them and it made me sad that these heroes were left to set up tables outside the main area.
Although my all-time favorite encounter was Vernon Wells (Commando, Road Warrior) at Frank & Sons, next to Todd Bridges. It was surreal. Almost as odd as John Carpenter and Bruce Campbell at E3 about six years ago, neither knew who the other one was.
Living in Los Angeles means celebrity sightings are somewhat common, but you rarely see somebody you like, and these guys are right up there.
The most important one was seeing Ray Bradbury a few years ago at SDCC, just walking the exhibit floor, it was like seeing royalty.
...of TV's The Highwayman fame!? He was teh same guy who played Flash Gordon??? Sweet!
Oh, the things we learn through the interwebs...
