Copter-Bot Rescue
Review by JoshB
I picked up this guy in one of the random shops in San Francisco's Japantown Mall. It was cheap, i'd never seen it before, so there you go.
Made by King Dragon Toys, Copter-Bot is one of the dozens of faceless Chinese diecast robots that came out in the mid 2000's. Despite it's questionable pedigree, it's a well made toy.
The packaging is bright and colorful, but nothing you haven't seen before.
Vehicle mode is bright and playful, with working propellers and a fair amount of diecast construction. It's about 5 inches long.
Robot mode is just plain ugly. Transformation is simple and ham-fisted.
You'd think that the tail would go down here, but it doesn't
The head is hidden under the main prop. It's sculpt is soft but sufficient.
Copter-Bot Rescue is unremarkable in almost every way. However, it exists, therefore we must chronicle it.

That vehicle mode is fantastic though. Talk about hiding its transformation.
Looks kinda Plex/Machine Robo-ish.
Man, and I was going to buy this from you at SRGM but I thought it had sold. Those obnoxious 90's extreme fluorescents where calling to me like the beating drums. Seeing it now though, I'm not so sure I'd still bite on it. Good to see you still had it for chronicling. That's what makes CDX so special from all the other toy sites, anything is game for reviewing. Where else would you find stuff like this front-paged? Nowhere, that's where. This is what makes CDX so special and unique as a toy site, and I love it for that.
I got rid of this a while ago, but I just found the photos so I'm reviewing it post-sale. Thanks for the kind words though, thats why we do what we do!
I picked this up as well as a race car and patrol hummer bot at a Japanese supermarket because of their quirky charm. The copter bot kind of (?) makes a nifty gerwalk mode.
I gotta love how 99% of these crappy bootlegs have that same gundam face. It's almost comforting. Like a seal of quality to let you know exactly what you're getting. Nothing at all.
