The Nazumar is Dr. Bell's ship in the 1984 anime Chikkun Takkun by Shotaro Ishinimori. Only two vehicles were made for the line by Gakken, and this is one of them. "Nazuma" is Catfissh in Japanese so the name Nazumar is a combination of "Nazuma" and "Marine". The DX Nazumar is an all plastic vehicle that is also a playset. The box is glorious.
Here are some google translations of it...
The bottom box is just plain cardboard, much like old tin toys.
Inside you get the toy, 2 figures, slides, a booklet and instructions.
Here is a rough google traslate of the instructions:
The Nazumar is based on some kind of fish. It's about 10 inches long and entirely made of plastic.
As you can see, the toy boasts 7 different gimmicks! There's a lot to this toy!
1. Pop-up Mechanism
Press the fin on the side to pop up the cockpit. The entire fin mechanism is one bar across the entire body, so don't hold the other side while pressing the fin on the right.
2. Akan Beromecha (Aka = Red / Bero = Tounge)
The tounge platform pulls out and can seat both mini-figures.
3. Microscope
Put a slide on the circular indent of the tongue and push it in. You can then look through the "bell" at the top and see the magnified slide.
4. Panorama Button
Pull this button back to release both sides of the body. There are small red pins in the side panels that are prone to breaking off over time. These add extra spring to the opening action.
5. Shuttle Arm
This central arm extends and holds the Nazumaku Shuttle.
6. Nazumaku Shuttle
This is a small vehicle with a pull-back motor. The canopy can be removed and either of the small figures can be placed inside.
7. Fin Fin action
When rolling Nazumar, the fin moves side to side. Additionally, holding the fin while moving the vehicle will cause it to go in a zig-zag pattern.
Below is a protoype image from the catalog. Notice all the different color molding from the final product. Also note below that Dr. Bell is molded in Black (his proper color) and the tongue is an entirely different design.
Overall it's a fun but obscure Japanese toy.
