Pinhead
He’ll tear your soul apart!
Hellraiser 2 is one of my all time favorite horror movies. Technically, this iteration of Pinhead comes from the first Hellraiser movie, but I don’t really care about that.
In the Hellraiser movies, there are these puzzle boxes that when solved open a portal to another dimension.. of torture! In this dimension live the Cenobites, basically torture demons that were once people. Pinhead is the head honcho of the group, and the most iconic.
NECA brings us the Ultimate Pinhead, continuing their run of 7-inch horror icons.
Ultimate Pinhead is available at Fun.com
The box is the standard book-style that NECA is doing nowadays, with the velcro flap cover and window inside. On the bottom is the toy’s credits – something that I really appreciate, and I’m sure anyone involved in the production does too. There’s also instructions on swapping the head so you don’t damage the pins.
Pinhead looks amazing, and the toy accurately captures the likeness of the actor, Doug Bradley. The detail and paint are fantastic and gory!
Check out the detail on the chest. The skin flaps are appropriately bloody, and there’s a string that attaches the top to the bottom via what I think was his bellybutton. The included weapons can hang off of these strings, but they somewhat limit movement of the ball-jointed torso.
The head sculpts are also amazing. Two heads are included, one angry, one less angry. When swapping the heads, grab them by the ears and gently twist and tug – the head will slide off nicely without any damage. I appreciate the thought that went into making the head a smooth peg instead of a ball or a peg with a ridge.
Pinhead has much more articulation than he needs. He’s not the most dynamic figure in the movies, but here you can totally get him into action poses. Some highlights of the articulation are the double-jointed elbows and fully articulated legs!
The arm articulation along with the variant hands allows Pinhead to hold either of the Lament Configuration puzzle boxes, in closed or open states.
Pinhead can also weild any of the weapons with the weapon holding hands.
This really is a stunning figure. No complaints at all here.
