Turak

Review by JoshB
Turak is part of the Maladroids sub-line of Convertors, the transformable toy line from the 80s. Like Transformers, Convertors consisted of repurposed toys from Japanese toy lines.
In this case, The Maladroids are all re-colored VF-1S Paro-Mecha Valkyries by Takatoku.
"Paro" is short for "Parody"
The original Paro-Mecha toys all have the correct heads, but the Convertors versions used the same mold for all four and then just colored them differently.

Each Maladroid was sold in a blister card and was given a unique name and backstory. The backs of the cards are the same for all though.
These little SD valkyries are actually very cool and well made. In robot mode they feature movable arms and legs and a weapon.
In vehicle mode it has a pull-back action feature that allows it to zip across the floor. In this mode the wings also move, as do the feet which are engines. Stickers come pre-applied.
There is no Gerwalk mode.

Wow. I remember these. I had Meeshak, got him at the Eagle grocery store that has long been out of business. Thanks Josh!
DO you guys remember the capsule versions of the SD Valks that came out in the mid-80's? They weren't transformable, but I remember there being a huge number of them available...I wish I still had them..,
Yes I do!
I own all four of the Bandai Valkyrie/Gerwalk "Nice Present Givaway" capsules and I own two of the bootleg Battloid capsule toys as well. I plan to have reviews up of the two sets within the next two months.
Sadly I was never able to get the other two Battloid of the set of four.
Cheers!

I just have to give props to the marketing guys who thought that name up. For a cheap toy line, that's a fairly awesome pun.
These immediately reminded me of the more recent line Toynami brought out
