Voltron (Classic Chrome)

Review by Optimal III
Voltron is one of those things that always sells, always overperforms in terms of results. Super7's first Ultimates figure of said character did really well. And Ultimates as a rule is made-to-order. So, they did another one, but this time in toy deco instead of anime.
The original just had the logo on the mailer. This one also has CLASSIC CHROME.
The slipcase still has the chest crest front & center, but now there's silver foil and lightning bolts everywhere.
The back has the logo, and the inner box has two-thirds of the narration from the cartoon intro.
The inner tray is the same, but you can immediately see the difference in deco.
Though modern in sculpt, I think they did a good job of capturing the colors of the classic toy, and adding the metallic effect.
Thankfully, they also made a couple of improvements over the first Ultimates figure. Firstly, they added wrist tilt to the red & green lion heads. Or maybe mine were all just completely stuck, because the sculpting was already there. Either way, this is good.
A bigger deal because it was actually advertised, they also added thigh swivels. Not as impactful as working on the hips, this is also good.
Maintaining the classic toy motif, they also did the blazing sword & spinning laser blade in chrome. Even cooler to me though, they included an extra "Summoned Blazing Sword" that looks like it could glow in the dark.
I hate the numbers, but for people who like them, they're definitely here too.
Though the improvements are welcome, I don't think there's anything here that really makes this a "must have" if you don't like the original figure. But if you do like the original, you'll like this too. Bonus points if you're a Voltron fanatic or someone who prefers the toy look over the cartoon.
