I never knew Opticon existed when I was a child. It must have been rare. It’s a bit harder to find now, but not the rarest in the line. Opticon is a transforming robot released as part of the Fisher Price Adventure People line. It feels more like a toy experiment, an item designed to make you go “What is this?”

It’s connected to the space figures of the same line, but nothing is known about it. Is Opticon sentient? I always thought he was some kind of powered suit, and the clear hole was something a figure looked through.

In robot mode he has two grey arms with sort of upside down suction cups at the ends. Pretty useless for hands.

The back (which I thought was the front) has silver painted details that have gotten a bit worn over time. This particular specimen belongs to a friend who has owned this since childhood, so it’s his fault lol.

I love the clear faceted dome.

The dome can be seen through the front.

Flying mode involves folding the figure in half, just like an old flip-phone.

is that a little cockpit in the front? No idea. I picture this being a maintenance drone that has different modes for the job at hand.
