Mechanical Spaceman
Mechanical Spaceman is another Lego-compatible kit from JMBricklayer. This kit used to be offered with multi-colored internal mechanisms, but now is offered with gold parts, and it looks amazing. This is a review sample from JMBricklayer, get yours here or here.
The build took me a few hours, and I had spaced it out over a couple of days. The construction starts with the body, then moves on to the legs, then the arms, and finally the head and stand.
The parts use here is fantastic. For the mechanical side, there are all kinds of interesting parts that make up the little greebles of the inner workings. Wrenches, Binoculars, flowers and other small bits merge seamlessly into the internal structure.
The fingers are articulated, but only one joint. The right hand is a bit loose on mine, but it displays well. It should be noted that this is a fully poseable model, each limb has the expected joints.
There are wonderful hoses all around.
The display base provides two different display options – Standing or floating. The kit is shown here standing, but the alternate parts just add a small bit of height to the stand.
The visor does not open, but the small reflectors on either side move.
There are markings on the kit that say JASC. Is this based on a real space suit? Sadly, it is not. The baseplate gives us a clue.
JAKI is another brand of building blocks, so my guess is that this model is shared with a few different companies. That’s OK with me, the build is awesome regardless of where it comes from.
Overall it’s a fantastic set, one not to be missed.
The set gets even better if you add in a custom printed brick! I got a logo printed on mine, and it’s fantastic!
