Kong with Battle Axe

Original MSRP: 9.99

I had initially written these Playmates Godzilla vs Kong toys due to seeing the terrible job they did with their other kaiju toys. These didn’t look much better, but at a $9.99 price point I decided to take another look. I mean, for ten bucks, they don’t have to be super great.

Fortunately Kong with Battle Axe is actually a great figure. And I’m not even a fan of Kong.

The package is pretty cool, with sturdy carboard and bright colors.

Kong

Kong comes with an axe made out of one of Godzilla’s back spines, and the battle damage panel.

Kong

Kong is a GREAT figure for 10 bucks. He’s got 13 points of articulation with a great range of motion.

Kong

Kong’s weapon fits into his right hand easily. It looks great, but I would have loved if the spine at the end of it was translucent like on the Godzilla toy.

The battle damage panel is made of soft vinyl and is a very tight fit into the arm. It blends in well enough, but is very hard to get out with some sort of impliment.

Kong

The face is a bit cartoonish, but has a lot of expression. The teeth are a bit too white, something we’ll also see with Godzilla.

Kong

Overall, for ten bucks this is a great toy, and a great deal. Don’t sleep on this one.
