Chainsaw Man
Chainsaw Man is the star of the titular anime, released in 2022. The story follows young Denji, who merges with the demon Pochita to form Chainsaw Man. It’s too much to describe the series here, just go watch it.
In 2024, Bandai released a Chainsaw Man as part of their Anime Heroes line. Anime Heroes is a mass-market line for fully articulated anime characters in 6-inch scale. Think of it like S.H.Figurarts-lite. While there aren’t as many accessories, or as much detail, they are pretty great figures for the price.
The figure comes packed in a window box. It’s sort of basic.
There are no accessories, so what you see is what you get. But what you get is pretty great, all things considered.
The chainsaws and shirt are made of a soft, flexible rubber. This could be for safety reasons as if the chainsaws were rigid, they could break easily at that size. However, despite being soft, they hold their shape well and you would never know the material by looking at it.
Articulation is good. The shoulder, knee and hip joints are intricate with a lot of motion. The chest is actually a multi-segmented chest covered by the rubber shirt that allows for natural movement. The only real downfall is in the feet. They are simple ball joints that are restricted by the height of the shoes. There is very little ankle rock motion, so posing can be limited.
Posing is enhanced greatly by using an action figure stand (not included). I’m using a Tamashii stand here. Interesting that there’s no holes for the stands to connect to with these figures.
