Black Zero was brought to you by Bluefin Tamashii Nations!
I've always loved the Megaman X games, and my favorite character was always Zero. And starting with Megaman X4, you could equip Zero with special black armor that would make him stronger. So, let's check out Bandai's plastic representation of that armor!
First and foremost, this is basically a black redeco of the previous Zero D-Arts figure, so it has all the strengths and weaknesses of that. But hey, let's go ahead and review this guy anyway!
As far as looks go, Zero is fantastic. The black is super shiny, and all the gems on his head, chest, and feet look awesome. He looks like he was pulled directly out of the game, and I can't find a single fault with the aesthetics of this figure!
Articulation is one of the greatest parts of this figure, yet also one of its biggest faults. Zero has ball joints and swivels all over his body. The shoulders are really well done, and the shoulderpads never get in the way of any of his motion. Plus, the ankles are really great as well. The only problem I have is with the hair.
There are two swivels on the base of the ponytail, but they don't really do much to help move it. You can slightly move the hair up, and slightly move the hair from side to side. I wish there was a ball-joint or something at the base so you could move it around freely, but as it is the hair gets in the way of a lot of poses.
Zero comes with a lot of accessories as well. As far as hands, he has fists, open hands, and sword-holding hands. He also comes with his Z-Buster, an extra tip for the Z-Buster, three versions of the Z-Saber (normal, extra pointy, and the slashing version), and four faces. As far as the faces go, he has his normal face, a growling face, a yelling face, and a special winking face based on his appearance in the manga!
I really love all the accessories.
I really like Black Zero. He's a really fun figure to play with, and he looks great with any of the other Megaman X D-Arts. I'd recommend him to anyone who is a fan of Zero, or the series in general. Of course, that's as long as you can get over the difficulties of posing him.
