Boss Borot

Review by StarSaber
Boss Borot is one of my all time favorite robots, but for a very long time I didn’t have anything of him at all. Nothing I found was quite to my liking or within my price range. The only representation of the genre’s greatest gag robo I owned was a wall clock.
Just in case you thought I was kidding. Anyway, I recently found this figure on Mandarake and knew it was the one, and I’ve never been happier to have been right.
The beat up box and punched in sides attest to this being a secondhand item. Boss is securely twist-tied inside so he won’t be jumbled around. The bottom of the box shows the rest of the series.
No articulation anywhere on Borot, just a sizable hunk of plastic. I just wish that the display stand had pegs to go into the feet, rather than the other way around.
Appropriately enough, Boss’s trademark info is on his posterior. Whoever owned this guy before got him a little dirty but honestly that’s perfectly in character for a mech that typically gets cut to ribbons every episode.
Although one of the biggest draws for me is that this Boss is very nearly to scale with my Mazinger Super Robot Chogokins. Bandai, you can feel free to put out the real thing anytime you like.
Overall, I’m very happy with this Boss Borot. I might have to hunt down some of the other releases from this toyline.

2 comments postedAn SRC Boss Borot would be wonderful. Although I am not sure how they would pull off the arms. Bandai got those very Right with the SOC. Given the small size Boss would need be at SRC scale, maybe a 2 pack with Aphrodite A? I can dream.
I would absolutely love more SRCs from Dynamic properties in general. I like what they're doing with those new SOCs but the only one I have any interest in is Ankoku Daishogun.
