Abitate F44A Crabgunner
Review by chachipower
During my Dougram fever, which everyone will at some point go through, I would always come across this Crabgunner. You would think that it's AT-AT style design would trigger me to buy it without any thought, but I would always just ignore it. Even at it's occasional crack-prices. Eventually the lack of Dougram robots at good prices led me to get my fix through one of these. The box is the same as the rest in the line featuring some great artwork on the front.
The back shows the actual toy. These were not only toys out of the box but they were also intended to be detailed and weathered like model kits.
Of course you will find a bed of Styrofoam with all the contents neatly laid out. It wouldn't make sense any other way.
The Styrofoam not only gives you a reason to save the box when done with playing, but it also protects these pieces here. The diecast metal parts of the set.
Putting the pieces together gets you this. This is what it would look like without any stickers and no paint detailing. Enough to keep any kid happy. It's hard not to think about the Star Wars AT-AT when looking at this. I'm sure it's a direct inspiration for this.
This specimen here was detailed by its previous owner. Not only did he/she apply the stickers, they also took some silver paint to it. Now it looks alive.
Even though these are one of the least wanted Dougram 1/144's, they are some of the most detailed and articulated. These Dougram figures are 1/144 scale, making them a tad on the small side, but one thing is for sure, they are really cool no matter which one you get.

7 comments postedCool review! I think these guys are that popular because in the show they were just outdated cannon-fodder that the Dougram would blow through like nothing. They end up being kind of charming in their uselessness.
I have not yet experienced Dougram fever or any of its symptoms. Should I be concerned that the older I get, the worse said Dougram illness will attack my body?
Not even justice, you'll want to get cure.
reminds me of an AT-AT
great review as always!
