Spin Master Does It Again! Toronto Kids Line Up To Become First Outside Japan To Get Their Hands on Bakugan Battle Brawlers!

July 24, 2007 – TORONTO, ON – When they decided to make Canada the first market outside of Japan to get
Bakugan Battle Brawlers, the team at Toronto-based Spin Master Ltd knew the hometown crowd would be
enthusiastic for this exciting new animated television show and action game. What they didn’t expect was the wave of more than 30,000 kids that have eagerly lined up for the special collectible figures and battle training since the animated series launched on Teletoon on July 8th.

Released earlier this year in Japan, Bakugan Battle Brawlers, the most innovative action figure line to be unveiled in recent years, is a hot new collectible game and companion television series. Though toys are just beginning to hit shelves in retailers throughout the city, the lead-up demand for Bakugan Battle Brawlers has been remarkably strong. Tens of thousands of kids have turned out to Spin Master’s Bakugan Battle Tour events throughout the city and surprised Battle Masters with how much they already knew about Bakugan from the television series and the website.

A Canadian Original

Bakugan’s launch represents a bold new beginning for Spin Master as it marks the first time a Canadian toy co has created an original TV series to accompany its toy line. It also marks a unique and Groundbreaking Canadian-Japanese creative business partnership. Along with Canadian partner Nelvana, Spin Master joined forces with Japanese partners Sega, TMS and Japan Vistec in an unprecedented three year development process to create Bakugan.

“We knew we had something special and took the time to develop a rich storyline and an innovative game play experience,” says Kenny Davis, Spin Master’s senior brand manager overseeing the Bakugan launch. “We
worked with our partners to launch Bakugan earlier this spring in Japan, and have proudly seen the animated TV series and the toys become a hit among boys aged 6-11 in both countries.”

Bakugan Battle Brawling

With cool collectible characters and competitive action that boys love, Bakugan combines the skill and strategy of Yu-Gi-Oh with the action and play of Beyblade. In simplest description, Bakugans are small spheres that pop open into powerful Bakugan warrior action figures when skillfully rolled onto the game’s Gate Cards. Kids quickly learn to master battle by strategically selecting Bakugan warriors and gate cards to beat their opponents. Bakugan’s rich website (www.bakugan.com) is complete with tips and tricks to turn any novice player into a Master Bakugan Battle Brawler.

The full line of Bakugan Battle Brawlers product, including game sets, collectible booster packs, battle arenas, and Bakugan wrist launchers will be available in all major Canadian retail outlets (including Wal-Mart, Toys “R” Us, Mastermind, Sears, Zellers, and online at toysrus.ca) in early August. Series Two introducing new warriors and battle cards will be available in Canada in spring 2008.
