STAR WARS - 12” Jumbo Vintage Kenner Figures

So this slipped out a few weeks ago. Gentle Giant Ltd. is reproducing 12 of the classic Kenner Star Wars figures in the 12" size. Yeah these are pretty cool. First up is the Stormtrooper as a SDCC exclusive.

STAR WARS Stormtrooper – 12” Jumbo Vintage Kenner Figure
Limited Edition of 1500 for $85

From the Gentle Giant press release...

"Just like they were when you were a kid, only BIGGER! Gentle Giant is proud to debut their new line of vintage Star Wars Action figure reproductions with the release of this classic Empire Strikes Back Stormtrooper.

Digitally scanned from mint 3 ¾” Kenner originals and reproduced to a substantial 12” tall. Nothing has been overlooked. Injection molded and made of durable plastics, this jumbo figure includes a faithfully reproduced blaster and is fully articulated! That’s not all, this classic Kenner creation comes packaged on a 1980, Empire Strikes Back inspired blister card with a plastic outer clam shell to help protect and display this limited edition convention exclusive!"

Gentle Giant Ltd. has been revealing one new figure every day. As of this post we are up to 10 of 12 revealed and the latest reveal is Boba Fett. A little birdie has told me that Boba Fett is a Celebration 5 exclusive.

Ah kind of disappoiningI

Ah kind of disappoinying I thought these would be reissues of the original Kenner 12inch figures not just the small figures blown up.

I always wanted the original 12in figures but couldn't afford them back then. I only had Boba Fett. It was one of my favorite toys.

As someone who had a few of

As someone who had a few of them back then, this isn't far off from the old 12" trooper. The only difference was the gun, a string that served as a cheap-ass holster, and his hands could rotate. Other than that it was just as limited in articulation and the black rubbed off just as easily.

Fett was easily the best of the line in terms of accessories and articulation, likely because he was the last one they made.
