12 comments postedFinally !! A masterpiece Soundwave !!!!!! Also, i think its very cool that Takara reached out to Lamborghini and got the proper licensing to put their logo on Sideswipe's vehicle mode. Makes me wonder if Hasbro will do the same if they decide to bring Sideswipe to the US.
It certainly took them long enough to make a MP Soundwave, but it's better late than never and it's certainly looking pretty good. This may be the first masterpiece I buy that I don't wait for the discounted American release. And in the back there, it looks like there also going to give him an expansion set with more of his cassettes! Sideswipe doesn't really interest me, I think the only reason they're releasing him is this way they can just remold/repaint him to make Sunstreaker and Red Alert. Seriously, transforming baseball caps? It's almost as if a higher up at Takara keeps daring the design guys to come up with more and more ridiculous ideas for transformers merchandising, and then decides to green light their ideas for some reason.
Yes I too am glad a Masterpiece Soundwave is coming soon, but a 3rd Party toy company is ahead of the line making an MP Soundwave of their own & that intrigues me even more which makes this year all the more interesting.
Last i heard, Takara Tomy got notice of those 3rd party companies and managed to have them hault production ( I could be wrong though). The reason i was interested in that is because lots of fans including myself were itching for a great soundwave figure, but this masterpiece figure along with all his cassettes and the energon cube accessory look like they'r certainly fulfill my need for a soundwave toy.
I've heard about that alarming tidbit but it was confirmed from a reliable source that tidbit was only a rumour. The indie toymakers( Fans Toys) are resolving a technical difficulty with their designs--nothing litigious. I also been to the fan toymaking website recently. Seems like 3rd Party MP Soundwave remains in production & the pictures of their progress remains available on their website.
Only one question: Will MP Soundwave be in-scale with actual cassette tapes, and be able to fit one inside the tape deck?
He's made to be compatible with classic G1 tapes as you can see in the picture with a colored G1 Laserbeak inside the gray prototype.
Those are still actual cassette tapes, just mini cassettes like you used to find in answering machines.
Durn. I was hoping for full-sized ones. Oh well, he's getting the MP treatment, I guess that's enough for me.
LOOOOL, were you going to play the 1986 movie sound track on him? sorry, i just couldn't resist leaving this comment.
We actually want Takara to re-release Diaclone(#) toy-line! #Transformers' roots
We need robots with pilots! That's all we've wanted!
One of early Diaclone line-arts maybe designed by Shoji Kawamori, around 1980? Means, when he was 19 to 20 y/o?
This looks like an earlier concept of Fortress-X. I almost bought that minty relic on Ebay.
>Diakron-G1san,
Here come a real maniac, hurrah!
I totally forgot about how Diaclone series were. jeje
Yes, looks like FortressX (according to the Japanese name "Robot Fortress X"),
how did you know about this?
Look, 5 small figures are included. We need pilots and mechanics! XD
