Meganulon Kaiju from Chikyu-boueigun

This menacing insect was first seen in Rodan, but this version is as it appeared in the 2000 flick "Godzilla vs. Megaguirus". Manufactured by Chikyu-boueigun and sculpted by Kazuyoshi Sato, this 16 cm long evil insect comes with a base and will retail for 8,000 yen. Due in May 2009.

Way too realistic for my tastes, but I'm gonna have to revisit that movie. I don't even remember this being in it.

wonder how he sees with watermelons for eyes?

Way too creepy to be a respectable kaiju. This toy is more along the lines of a big rubber cockroach to scare your little sister. Pass.

Oddly enough, Godzilla vs. Megaguirus is one of my favorite modern G movies. Love it.

Wow! Why's that? I hated the over-use of CG in a lot of the shots. Some of the cinematography was cool, but I think I liked the later Mechagodzilla movies better (even though MG was rendered a good guy of sorts...which, of course, is sacrilegious!).

Honestly, I liked the story and the characters. It seemed much more "Mature" than other godzilla flicks. It had a lot more drama.

Okay, you've convinced me to go back and watch it again! I'll have to dig up my fansub...which I'm sure is around here somewhere... ;)

You know,I've seen the movie

You know,I've seen the movie in question at least 6 times, and if I came to your house and saw this figure on your shelf,I'd have no idea what it was. I mean,it's just a generic little bug. Who's the target market for this? People who allready have a high quality vinyl of every single other kaiju,up to and including Yonggary? Seriously, ask 10,000 kaiju movie fans who their top 20 monsters are,and NOONE will mention the meganeulon larval stage. Even the big Megagurius isn't really all that popular.

To throw my own two cents in on your debate,I do prefer Godzilla X Mechagodzilla over Godzilla Vs. Megagurius, but I like both of them more than the Mechagodzilla sequel with Mothra. Believe it or not my favorite from this recent group of films was Final Wars.

I tend to agree....however, if you were to ask kaiju toy fans, that super-rare Megaguirus glowie that Marmit did was stoopidly popular. Granted, I had a few shots at it when it came out...and I totally passed. And I don't regret it one bit...

And not to go too far off topic, but yeah, I've come to develop a new appreciation for Final Wars. At first, I wasn't prepared for the camp and just saw it as too much of a ripoff of Matrix, etc. But now, I can dig it...more than most of the post-Heisei ("Millenium") films. Still...Showa rulz all!

Marmit??

I do believe you said Marmit when you meant M1. Roger will not be pleased. lol.

However, I love the M1 Megaguirus and would kill for the glowie, which is limited to about 20 pieces. :( Here's a link to the image on ClubTokyo.

I would do ANYTHING

That glowie Megaguirus...WOW!

That is an awesome toy. I wouldn't want it any less even if they made thousands. That's gorgeous!

I've never even seen the glowie. Granted I don't pay a hell of a lot of attention to anything non-Bandai.

M1, huh? Wow...I coulda sworn it was Marmit! Oh well, thanks for the correction, Nekrodave!

kidnicky, if you're only paying attention to Bandai's, you really need to start checking out the big three: M1, Marmit, and Marusan. Definitely some hot stuff going on there!

Yeah,I know there's cool

Yeah,I know there's cool stuff out there, but I'm hardly a hardcore collector. Maybe once or twice a year I pick up an imported kaiju figure, and I usually keep it around 20 bucks.
