Techno Police kits from Aoshima. WAT?

I remember way back in the day when Kaybee had these cheap kids videotapes in a bin in front of their store, and there were some real gems in there, including the infamous "Clash of the Bionoids" (a re-dubbed "Do You Remember Love", "Ninja Warrior", and this one called "Techno Police".

Techno Police was this slow, boring 80s anime about these three space cops, I think. I watched it a few times back in the day and promptly forgot about it, although I still have the tape.

I had all but forgotten about it until today, when I saw the listings for these - the three main robots from the 1982 OVA Techno Police 21C! I didn't even know they made kits for these, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

The kits are all reissues of classic Aoshima kits from the early 80s, a great bit of nostalgia for sure.

The first is a set of the three main robots: Blader, Scany and Vigolus. Each is 1/16 scale and will require paint and cement to complete. Due late April for 3,800 yen.

Next is the Roadranger vehicle that comes in at 1/48 scale and includes some human figures. This kit is also due late April and will retail for 2,600 yen.

Viva la 80's mecha!

So when is DAPDX going to do a podcast on Techno Police?

The three robot set is

The three robot set is slick... looks like they could use a little TLC and really turn out great.

I had the Roadranger kit way

I had the Roadranger kit way back when. I had no idea what it was from but I loved the style of the car. It was motorized (like many Aoshima kits back then) and could go in a circle.

Kawamori rant re-engage, he designed these as well.

Friend from work

... brought one of these kits in to work, one of the tanks as he's really into Sci-fi tanks. I got hung up on those armored soldier kits, not as well done as SF-3D but still great otherwise.

Looking forward to picking them up for review for CDX!

I'm not sure you posted to

I'm not sure you posted to the right topic, your description seems off.

The three characters are robots.

I saw the anime long ago, while it may have been edited, the end result was dull and sleep-inducing. While those f.h.e. hack jobs were pretty bad, what was left still didn't seem interesting at all. They still left DYRL and Kamui fairly entertaining, but this was nearly unwatchable.

Never Seen the Anime

I always assumed they were armored suits like SF3D. If those are Robots that's horrible art design for robots, but as armored suits they are somewhat passable.

No wonder that show bombed!

Thanks! The Tank!

Techno Police 21C was not a show, it was a movie. It was also the first product from studio Artmic, who would later do concept and design work for Mospeada, Bubblegum Crisis, Megazone 23, Gall Force, and more.

It's pretty fun in a cheesy retarded "Lupin III meets robots" kind of way.

Thanks J,

I never even knew of the film until I saw the model kits a few months ago.
