Action works

Do you mean the action works series? I think it's smaller like 115 mm. And cheaper too, only 2000 something yen.

I think I know why they're

I think I know why they're releasing this now. There are two reasons...

A: 2012 is the 30th Anniversary of the beginning of the Metal Hero Series (of which Gavan was the first). However, at this time, there are no new Metal Hero Series being produced, as the last one ended in 1998.

B: Toei- who made the Metal Hero TV series- is producing a V Cinema (i.e. direct-to-video) called "Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger VS Space Sheriff Gavan"! (While this Metal Hero crossover has been confirmed, rumor has it that "Kamen Rider Fourze"- which is currently celebrating both it's own 40th Anniversary, and the 50th Anniversary of cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin's historic first manned flight into space- will also be included in either the same movie as a cameo or a V Cinema all to itself with Gokaiger.)

So, expect a bit more attention than usual being paid to Metal Hero in the coming months.

EDIT: For those who don't know, several shows from the Metal Hero Series (which was itself inspired by the "Robocop" movies) provided footage for several Saban Entertainment series- "VR Troopers", "Big Bad Bettleborgs", and "Beetleborgs Metallix".
