Robot Damashii Hi Nu Gundam Updated

Bandai is bringing us a highly anticipated new Gundam action with the Hi Nu Gundam! This was originally seen in the novelization of Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack and this upcoming Robot Spirits figure looks like it is capturing the classic styling of Yutaka Izubuchi's original artwork! Comes equipped with a beam rifle, shield, beam sabers, and detachable Fin Funnels with their own flight attachments and beam charging effect parts. Coming January 2014 for 5,775 yen

Bluefin Tamashii has given us information about the stateside release:

"Hi-ν Gundam mobile suit from “Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack - Beltorchika's Children” photo novel joins the ranks of Robot Spirits in intrepid form and massive proportion.  Replete with articulated gimmicks, this advanced robot action figure features workable funnel container, beam saber gimmick, as well as fin funnel barrier defense field portrayal via effect sheets.  A full array of armament accessories including Beam Sabers, the New Hyper Bazooka, Beam Rifle, and three sets of interchangeable hand parts are also featured in set." Coming February 2014 for $56.99.

You can preorder the Hi Nu Gundam at Big Bad Toy Store.

Okay now, here's the question:

Do all six Fin Funnels detach and convert, or did they wuss out [again], and only make two of them fully functional?

The were all fully functional

The were all fully functional on the regular Robot Damashii Nu Gundam so I don't see why they would change it.

Uh, yeah... The Japanese

Uh, yeah... The Japanese version of the MSIA 1.0 Nu, the EMIA Nu, the HCM Pro Nu and Hi-Nu, and the Robot Damashii Nu all have a full complement of folding funnels. Eva, are you really going back over ten years to the American release of the MSIA 1.0 Nu Gundam to make this complaint?

I hate the redesign of the

I hate the redesign of the hi-nu. This figure is closer to the original lineart than the master grade redesign, but really, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Not much Hate

I'll agree that the Master Grade Hi-Nu doesn't have the same feel as the original look, but it is a balanced version of the design. it is much shorter, leaner but otherwise it is a solid kit once you get it in your hands to build and see up close for yourself.

With the constant design/redesign process of the models, maybe we'll see a proper Izubuchi version in the Real Grade line somewhere down the line.

Maybe with any luck Bandai will finally give us the Nightingale!
