Bio Dragon is the carrier ship for the two vehicles that make up Bio Robo. This toy is scaled up to work along the DX Chogokin version of the classic Super Sentai mech.
The box is rather large, with colorful photos all over. Inside, two large styrofoam blocks hold the ship in place. The cardboard is sort of flimsy and its rare to find one in good shape.
Inside are stickers, instructions, and accessories.
Bio Dragon is a boxy ship, a product of the design aesthetic of the time. Despite the size, the ship is rather light, being mostly hollow on the inside.
This is the basic flight mode. The top features two missile launchers, and the wings on the side and back are movable.
On the bottom are legs that fold out with faux tank treads at the bottom. Molded into the underside are hover engines.
The red cannons on the side can slide forward or backwards revealing chrome jets.
Bio Dragon has an interesting transformation. It folds out origami style, with the main tower being hidden in one of the side panels. Be careful with the chrome antenna on the top of the tower, it's very fragile. Pieces lock and unlock into place with red buttons in key locations.
Once transformed, Bio Dragon looks like a futuristic aircraft carrier. The front ramp can fold under, and the connecting arms unfold from the deck.
Bio Dragon is ready for the two Bio Jets (not included)
Bio Jet 2 takes the rear and docks into the support arm.
Bio Jet 1 Rests in front of Bio Jet 2.
The carrier can be closed up with both Bio Jets inside. Clips in the side hold Bio Jet 1 in place.
Once when the ships are in and it's all closed up, then it gets heavy.
Bio Dragon was released in the US as part of the second series of the Godaikin line by Bandai that same year, with no changes to the toy other than packaging.
