NYTF2017: Mattel Collector Preview

The day after Mattel’s collectors event was the collectors preview, a much larger breakfast event with tons of new exciting reveals.

This giant functional rock’em sock’em robot was fascinating but I did not get a chance to play with it myself

The Wonder Woman barbie were rather impressive looking and I can see myself buying one.

The large remote controlled Batmobile for Justice League featured lights and sound, moving guns, and AR functionality.

The large Mega Construx diorama was one of the coolest things I saw at Toy Fair, apparently based on drawings submitted children. The whole scene was very reminiscent of the old classic space Lego sets and the amount of detail put into it is amazing. I loved the futuristic designs and could not stop staring at the entire thing. Sadly it seems like none of this will actually be released as purchasable sets except for the rocket ship and moon rover thing.

I’m not familiar with Monster High, but it does seem like the toy line has been brought back as Monster Family.

For the renamed Mega Construx line, more Halo, Call of Duty, TMNT, Minions and Destiny sets were shown off.

One big surprise was the acquisition of the Pokemon license by Mega, with a range of generation one sets initially being produced.

Please check the full gallery for 144 pictures from the event, including a ton of up close shots of the amazing diorama!
