Macross 7 was actually the first Macross anything I saw. Regardless, I still loved it. But I ended up watching it like 5-6 episodes a day.
I also noticed you missed mentioning poor Physica. He had a wife and kid, but still managed to get himself killed. Not only that, his wife had something going on with another guy.
Well, he lives in both SRW games he's in.
Shigeru Chiba, the guy from Red Spectacles, Stray Dog, and Talking Head? :( But... but... :(
It wasn't really worth mentioning Physica. He is one of those characters that is in the background, a total cipher, and then suddenly after being ignored for the whole series he gets developed in one episode... which means he's going to die. That's really pretty lazy writing.

The Shigeru Chiba joke mainly referred to his role in Fist of the North Star.

Ok, dude Jeremy. This specific podcast cements my previous assumptions that we would be buddies in real life. You pretty much used the exact words I would use to describe Macross 7, especially the "If you don't like it then f**k you" part.
Back to the actual comment. This podcast only lacked one thing, Yoshiki Fuku[f***ing]yama. AKA Basara's singing voice, member of Jam Project, and all around bad ass. You remember Mazinkaiser VS. the Ankoku Daishogun? Yeah, he sung the movies ending theme: http://youtube.com/watch?v=E1DBNe0sYYI
The [f***ing] I added in Fukuyama is to signify how f***ing awesome he is.
Are you guys looking forward to Macross F? It "premiers" April 4th, but it's likely just the first episode. Which was aired back in December to get more hype.
I tried this show back in the 90s and found it to be stupid and annoying.
But out of the sheer enthusiasm heard on this podcast and my increasing enjoyment of silly things, I am gonna give it another shot.
Maybe I will see things differently.

Passion...this is what I'm talking about. And this is why DAPDX is the best show on the webz.
