Well G.I Joe was another popular line at the showroom, the classic inspired anniversary figures are now a full blown line. Sadly this means that Hasbro has indeed pulled the plug on the Sigma 6 line. Which I feel is a travesty because those were some seriously cool toys.
12-inch scale figures make a come back with classic 1980’s characters and designs.
Lots more of the Basic Figures will be added to the mix this year. Fan favorites included are Zartan, Serpentor and Firefly.
Comic Two-Packs feature scenes or confrontations from the comic book series and include the comic book the characters are from. Entertainment Packs include scenarios from the original G.I. Joe mini-series. Included are parts and pieces to build the Dominator and the Mass Device. A first in the G.I. Joe line.
Vehicles are back, classic vehicles that is. Highlights where the VAMP (the classic Joe jeep)and Cobra's HISS and a two-pack featuring the RAM (Joe motorcycle) and Cobra’s Trouble Bubble.
I must say the sculpt and details on these new lines are fantastic. If you were a G.I. Joe fan back in the day, you really should give this line a look if you haven’t already.

Seriously...80's style GI Joe in the midst of a comeback? Hell yeah! I've seen the figure packs at toy stores and such recently, but I'd been wondering if they've been selling at all. Apparently so...either that, or the Sigma Six toy sales have been severely tanking.
I was never a big fan of Sigma Six, so I don't mind that they're going away. I'm pleasantly surprised that this is now paving the way for more 80's style stuff. Oh, I need me a Hiss tank...ah, but I'd never forgive myself for jumping into another big toyline!
Atom, I don't suppose you noticed or asked about individual figures' gimmicks?? Like, if Zartan doesn't turn blue in sunlight, then all hope for humanity is lost. Same thing with the B.A.T.: if that chest ain't lenticular, just forget the whole damn thing!
This is too cool...

First post. Yea, really nice toy line, it's good to see that Hasbro is really supporting Joes. I've got most of them, and I'm on a couple of the dedicated Joe forums.
Some of the best Joes have already come out, like Zartan, Snow Job, Tomax & Xamot. Zartan has a color-change gimmick, but it reacts to cold, not to light. At least it's something.
Uhh, I don't know the release date for B.A.T. (probably summer), but I think it's gonna be one of the best toys of the year. On display were swappable arm parts, swappable head and chest plate w/battle damage, spore backpack (from Marvel comic). The chest isn't lenticular, but it's fully sculpted, with blue tinted window.
So, Joes are looking good this year, but so do a lot of other toy lines. It's gonna be one great year for toys.
That's crap. Seriously...what's the point of the cool exposed chest on the B.A.T. is it ain't lenticular (or a hologram or something gimmicky like that)! Eh well...at least Zartan changes color! ;)
Welcome to CDX, Snake-Eater!

Yeah, that stuff looks great and the kid in me wants all of it! I was a BIG Joe fan back in the day and, with the exception of the USS Flagg, I had just about everything...Sadly only one pic of a portion of my old collection still remains...but you can see I was pretty particular about how I stored my toys even then. No big messy toybox for me!
But like Sanjeev, it's just not feasible for me to start collecting something else at this point... The sad thing about this hobby though is that, for me at least, it's almost impossible to just admire from afar. If you look, you'll buy! lol

Interesting you should show that particular picture because one of the very few G.I.Joe toys I ever owned was that Defiant shuttle launch complex... which is buried in my closet right now- bottom of the pile, beneath dozens of toy boxes and stray pants. It is more-or-less intact, with perhaps a few decals peeling away. But it remained an honored-if-unnoticed member of my collection; from the time before I started collecting. I just didn't have the heart to sell it.
It'd be a real pain in the ass to get it out, but would anyone be interested in a review if I did?
(Ditto on the Stealth Fighter I have, which is more accessible...?)

Nah, for real, definitely throw up a review of the Defiant. That'd be hot! We need to get more obscure vintage stuff on CDX. The more under-appreciated by the masses, the better!

It was a case of "be careful what you wish for".
Never has a 7 foot long playset had so little play value and forced me to sleep on the floor. I had a captain's bed that had four drawers below the mattress at about 3 1/2 feet high. I had no room for the huge aircraft carrier on the floor so I had to take my mattress off and put the boat on top of the bed/table.
It's still probably the most extravagant toy produced for a mass market toy line, but it seriously had nothing on the fun you could have with smaller sets and your own imagination.
As for the new stuff, I've been pretty choosy and only getting characters I like, mainly from the first two years.
