If I may clarify

The original W-Jeccar as seen in Butto's article is a legitimate cheap toy and is not a bootleg of anything. I believe my particular example may be a bootleg as it was sold in Kay-Bee toy stores along with several other toys from the originating Wing line. If I could get my hands on a boxed original maybe it would clarify the exact differences between the legit release and mine.

beautiful but floppy

I have this toy, and two others in the same style. Technically, four others, as each half of the robot was packaged separately.

IIRC, all have legs made up of race cars. Two have jets as their top half, and the third used a helicopter.

The toys are gorgeous, but they are incredibly floppy. The head of my helicopter robot gets dislodged whenever I touch it, but it snaps back on easily.
