Knight Gear Oger
Review by AJProDie-Cast
I know little of the figure and garner all information from the Gear Fighter Dendoh review by The Enthusiast... that I assumed is from the same show (they have all the same gimmicks...).
It comes in the typical Super Robot Chogokin small, graphic filled box and plastic shell tray.
The robot comes complete out of package, and with sets of fists, extra head and face, snake shield, backpack, extension cable, and clear plastic motion effects.
The head pops off the neck and you can keep the covered knight look, or have a tilted back with face showing head (you can switch faces to one smiling???)
The shield locks on the die-cast arm bar and then you can attach the black wire to have the snake head out and attacking... pretty cool!
The joints are extremely moveable, but the arms and feet sometimes pop out... similar to a Revoltech, they are easily popped back in.
The Chogokin is incredible, the positions you can achieve are not only awesome looking but gravity defying!
The arm joints are amazing and again allow positions not achievable with most Chogokin.
The lines are nice and crisp. I thought it was blue by looking at the box, but it is strictly black with gold and red trim.
The back has some kind of rocket pack??? It rests on a bronze looking panel. It has extended and flush black with red intakes.
You get clear plastic wind and power effects. The arm ones slide over the red forearms. The energy wave you just rest near the feet (and try to pose like he was sliding that direction).
The only die-cast is the arm and leg bars that 'U' around the spinning leg and arm aspects, and it is smaller... around 5 inches. That is part in parcel, however, with Super Robot Chogokin... less die-cast for cheaper $ and "super" pose-ability.
As you can tell by the total lack of show terminology, I never knew of this guy until I started this review. All I can say he is fun, holds a great position, and with the accessories can create wonderful variety and looks. I say if you are a fan or just like great figures....go grab one!
Robot is cool...Nuff Said

3 comments postedThat rocket pack-like thing on Ogre's back is actually where, in fiction, where its Hyper Dendoh Batteries are inserted. Originally, the Knight Ogre was used by one of the bad guys, hence why we often saw the mech with the mask over its face. When that same baddie defected, the mask flipped back to reveal the face.
The snake-thing is one of the Data Weapons, Viper Whip. It is said that the one who obtains all of the Data Weapons will be as powerful as a god, which is what fuels the conflict in the anime.
thanks for the info
While I absolutely adore Dendoh, I think I drew the short straw QC wise in my Knight Gear Ogre, which has left me a little disappointed. I don't know if it is just my specimen or it is common to the fig. But compared to the near identical Dendoh, My Ogre is a bit of a floppy mess. His waste is very loose and will not hold anything but a neutral pose. He doesn't balance well and his shoulders are a bit loose.
This combined with his far less flashy color scheme tends to leave him relegated to the back of the shelf.
