Grendizer: Die Cast Action Figure Pack
Review by AJProDie-Cast
METALTECH 01 DX-Grendizer: Die Cast Action Figure Pack was provided by HL Pro.
The Grendizer: Die Cast Action Figure Pack comes in a long rectangular box, with cool back graphics, a bubble tray, and Grendizer, the Spaizer, a stand, and six accessories with a bonus item!
The Spazier is smaller than the SOC version, but this baby is mostly diecast.
It slides into two pegged 360 degree and fully rotating stands.
Also, included are the drill missile saucers that slide onto the Spaizer's arms.
The figure is nice, with flat and sickle holding hands. It is mostly die-cast (legs, chest, shoulders). It poses well and seems more stable than the SOC version (I have pictures with accurate missing shoulder sickles, and inaccurate but cool looking blades in the shoulders even though they are in his hands...).
I was not crazy about the arm joints. They don't fall out, but seem weak.
The "secret" bonus item is a "manga" colored head (yellow horned one). I am glad they included it, I liked it much better than the "normal" head.
The front of the Spaizer comes off and after you separate Grandizer's top half from his bottom half, he slips into the saucer. The look is pretty good, same look as SOC but sturdier (he can't slide out like with the SOC version).
He is smaller than the SOC version. I like this guy, not as much as the SOC (notice the cool handle for the sickle that I had made through Sanjeev's site... the SOC handle broke and never held together), but for the price ($149.99) and the diecast Spaizer, I am I glad I have this in my collection.
It should be noted that HL Pro is a great company! They shipped out the set and Grendizer was missing his shoulder blades. I emailed my concerns and they express mailed me replacements the same day! HL Pro were great pros and I will be happy to support them by buying their products.

See you in the funny pages

A great solution to the tilt head issue, i.e. a poor angle facing forward, is you slide out a tab in the back of the neck and then you have a perfectly forward facing head in the Spaizer mode!

7 comments postedI really like this toy and its clean and faithful design.
I really *don't* like the fact that they don't sell the Spazer as a separate item: I already own the single and fine Metaltech Grendizer that HL produced in 2009: so now I should fork another 100 eur to basically own it again (although with a new bonus head), just to have the Spazer. No deal for me.
/edit: guess I was wrong, on HL site they say the Spazer is in fact sold also as a separate item (although finding the catalog page is not immediate, you have to pass through Metaltech 01 DX link in the homepage).
Well done! I had already seen the complete package in shops here, so I hope the single Spazer will come to Europe, too.
I've never seen Grendizer, but I kinda feel attracted to this toy of the super robot, maybe it's the toy line name (although somewhat simple, I find "Metaltech" a rather attractive name) or the proportions. I think one of these days I will get one through eBay...
Something that bugs me is: how much is the metal content on the Grendizer figure?
all of chest and waist...around60%
I LOVE THIS FIGURE !! and think i might go for it. Thanks for the review. I am slightly let down though for the lack of another pair of arms that have the red blades extended outward like the Revoltech version. But its a small price to pay in return for everything else this amazing figure comes with. Thanks again.
It looks like a serious paint flaw on his left golden horns on the close up picture or is that just a lighting thing? I like the size. It would look great displayed on a desk in an office without taking up much space. I am still not selling my SOC Grendy anytime soon.
It is paint imperfections. The manga head is perfect (never left tray), so I think it is from it being the display model for their company pictures...some one must have scratched it...
I like so much Grendizer and HL PRO that I've bought both versions!
Thank you HL PRO!!!!
