Genesic GaoGaiGar: Final Ver.
Review by AJProDie-Cast
There have been many versions ofGaoGaiGar from many manufactures. I have had some or most and finally found and kept this version from Max factory, part of their Max Gokin line.
Genesic GaoGaiGar is the second release by Max factory, now with Final ver. in the title. It comes in the, typical for the line, handled black folding box with styrofoam tray(s), stand that holds all the parts, and even a pair of white gloves to handle the chogokin!
The robot comes out of the box with many accessories that ALL fit on the stand... good job!.
The Final Ver. equates to (hopefully) fixed feet issues (a design flaw in original release) and cool extra hands, with a stand.
The size of the chogokin is eight inches, but it seems somewhat small for all the accessories and stand size.
The PVC orange hair or "power batteries" attaches behind the head, and, while looking cool, do limit the head's movements.
The legs are 80% diecast and very heavy. The knee area has spots to attach the golden cones (the smooth ones are the "normal" look... I think).
The feet on an the original often broke in transit (I vented on the web). These seem fine upon opening. The toes tilt with a ratchet mechanism, and no issues in posing for me. The clawed toes held up the robots weight well in my opinion.
The lion head chest has a sliding mouth and sliding mane (for when posing arms).
The myriad fists attach to the arm sockets with two different types of pegs (helps you keep track of each side).
The first set of hands are large and claw-like and with gold tipped thumbs. Genesic also comes with a fused combined fist.
The other hands are smaller and have golden fingers. The normal closed fists and flat hand with red sunburst-like cuff are from the original release, and the three additional hands are for the Final Ver.. It should be noted that the three additional hands are on ball joints, with moving thumbs... adds great options and makes it worth getting this version over the original.
The robot has nice ball joints at hips, but it is still hard to get an easy pose around the legs (the feet seem to angle weird). When finally settled, however, it seems pretty stable.
The bird-like accessories are the Bolting Driver (A-Type) with a weird orange plugs that slide into the green barrel (Genesic Bolt, Broken Bolt, and Protect Bolt), and a gauntlet-like "Will Knife" (I did not notice it was upside down until uploading pictures... you can tell by the blade). I of course don't know all the terminology but the amount of looks you can create make tons of cool and bad A$$ images.
Dirty Harry Genesic GaoGaiGar... Do you feel lucky, punk... well, do ya???
Genesic GaoGaiGar's wing, or "Gadget Feather", slides on a back clasp and has adjustable segments to create length (and form some ray in the anime) for the tail. FYI: the first four segments DO NOT come apart... I broke number four figuring that out... sigh.
The wing can be unfolded by sliding four parts in tracks for an extended design with cool red inlaid eyes.
The extra tail segments need to be taken out when Genesic GaoGaiGar is not on the stand or they push on the ground awkwardly.
Nevertheless, the look is great and I love having in my collection.
Genesic GaoGaiGar rests on the stand by gravity where the ball joint in the hips meet.
It went for 150 to 209 USD plus shipping around a year and a half ago, no idea how much this or the original may run you now. If you have the original, no need to get this baby, but if you can find this, I give him a nice thumbs up for stability, a huge thumbs up for diecast content, an incredible thumbs up for accessories, and a gigantic stupendous thumbs up for aesthetics... as for posability... a pinkie turn with a smile?
He's number...

18 comments postedGenesic is my all-time favorite super robot... but if the poseability is THAT stiff and poor, I'm glad I never tried harder to shell out cash for one of these. Maybe the SRC line will make a GGGG sometime...
Nice looking figure and a solid review, my purchasing tastes aside.
yeah for posability...I did order the super robot chogokin version of this guy...Max factory arms pose well and legs do have ratchet joints just seemed hard to get very bendy poses
I don't care what kind of figure line this is from... this thing looks beast!
I always loved this released but skipped it due to the fragile of the figure (I play with my toys),
AJ, please, I beg you to go and watch GaoGaiGar Final. You need to understand all the gimmicks this figure has, It's fantastic.
Let me mention a few
the smoth drills are ment to mimmic the moving drills, the others one with the spikes are ment to be the still ones.
the claw like hands are the Genesic Hell and Heaven hands, for this pose, the bits of gadget feather tail detach from it and form the claw hands that go over the regular hands.
The handle of the will knife is gadget feather head, all the bits that detach from the tail. are the base for each gadget , hence the name of gadget gao (the bird like mech that makes the wings)
please, go watch GGG Final , for me at least, is the most fucking awsome, robot on robot action you'll ever see.
will do, is it on you tube or would I have to rent??

all 8 eps, subbed.
Sorry mang, we probably shouldn't link fansubs openly. Feel free to use private messages though.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
sure, no problem, since it wasn't released in the US I thought it was ok to post them.
IT was released in the US look for it on amazon. Does it include GGG Final ? Idk.
The King of Braves, awesome though he was, did not sell well here. The sequal wasn't picked up. :(
King Of Braves GaoGaiGar, the TV show was released in the US. The Ovas, GGG Final, in which Genesic GGG shows up, was never released.
You cannot deny the majesty that is Genesic GGG :P
He is courage given FORM and hope made STEEL! He is the infinite possibility a new beginning brings! HE IS THE GOD OF DESTRUCTION, FORGED TO FREE THE UNIVERSE FROM THE ETERNAL DAMNATION OF AN ENDLESS STATUS QUO!
... I'm letting my inner fanboy run a little too free.
Ahem.
I concure, good sir.
A few years ago, I wanted the HECK out of this thing when I was on my major GaoGaiGar kick. Now, I've calmed down and I don't want it quite as much, but it is still such an impressive piece. Great review!
I've never watched GaoGaiGar, but have always loved the mech design, and this one is no exception.
For me, one thing that makes it shine even more is that hair, it's completely insane and fits the design, differently from some other mechas that also have hair (I'm looking at you, Gundam Nadleeh).
I hope Bandai releases a Super Robot Chogokin of this guy soon, then I will take the opportunity and watch the show.
Thanks for the review!
Genesic GaoGaiGar (And GaoFighGar) only appear in GaoGaiGar FINAL, the OVA sequal. Only GGG and Star GaoGaiGar appear in the main 49 episode TV series.
I have the first release and I must say that although it looks fantastic with loads of metal it has to be the most banged up toy I own and display. The left leg snapped off, the left arm broke off at the upper shoulder and the teeth of Galion fell out ( thank god for gorilla glue lol). I have thought about getting this version since I love the design and the basic "concept" of the figure but prices are way too high. So I'll just keep it on display and just not touch it and hope Bandai will make one in either the SRC or SOC line.
Had an original with same issues...so far so good with this baby. I got on clearance from HLJ a while ago...was sitting on my shelf in its box...might have been for a two years not one...
