Generations Wheelie
Review by chachipower
Here I find myself doing another review for a character I never really liked. The first one I did was the Super Alloy Wheelie Specialist which was actually not too bad. This second Wheelie I am reviewing is also pretty cool. The difference being that this is a legit Hasbro release.
Wheelie comes from Hasbro's Generations line of Asian Exclusive GDO (Global Development Organization) series of figures. The figures in this line were originally developed for sale in Asia and were released here in the US due to overwhelming demand.
Wheelie is based off of a previously released Reveal the Shield Special Ops Jazz figure. This time around, the colors are drastically changed to make him look more like the orange character we've all come to uh..know. Vehicle mode is the familiar Porsche inspired mold with a two-toned paint-job and blue hood. Wheels are molded in grey along with the tires.
This time around, Hasbro decided to adorn this mold with taillight and rear window paint apps.
Wheelie looks right at home inside Optimus Prime's trailer.
Transformation is exactly like the Reveal the Shield Jazz figure. If you are unfamiliar with it, check out the transformation video.
In robot mode, it is still obviously Wheelie but almost as if he's gone through some steroid program. He is not the small character we've come to know. He's actually tall for a deluxe figure. Check out the new headsculpt.
Even though Transformers are a highly advanced race with amazing alien technology, Wheelie still decides to use a slingshot as his weapon.
That same slingshot can be held and used as a gun.
Articulation is generous for this figure. Nice action poses can be achieved.
Hasbro even decided to leave Jazz's Sonic Weapons for use in Wheelie. I would have preferred something different, but overall not too bad.
Here is Wheelie with some of his mold brothers. Reveal the Shield Special Ops Jazz and G2 Jazz from the Ultimate Gift Set.
Overall, I enjoyed the figure. I think even though its bigger than a Wheelie figure should be, it somehow works. Not everyone will agree, but it's hard to deny that Hasbro did a great job with it. They chose a great mold and made a nice looking modern Wheelie.

6 comments postedYou should check out Spotlight: Wheelie from IDW Comics. They took Wheelie and made him awesome. Basically, it's his backstory for why he is so annoying in The Movie. I highly recommend it.
On another note, killer review. Your pics always inspire greatness. Your white balance is immaculate.
Thanks, I appreciate it. I studied photography in college (before digital) and self taught myself with digital. It took a bit of work but its pretty much where I want it now. Ill have to check out the Wheelie Spotlight
Some people mis-transform him, not extending the legs into bot mode, to make him shorter, but it just looks wrong to me. This has to be one of the most reused designs recently - Jazz (both Takara and Hasbro and G2 set), Wheelie, two Botcon uses plus the conversion class Longarm, and Million exclusive Stepper! But, only one of those is a mainstream Western release. Thats quite an achievement.
Is that a comparison shot with MP-10 on the bottom or a different Optimus?
Yeas it is, Thats the MP-10 Takara Convoy version
Awesome. Thanks. I have been looking for what figures would be in scale with the MP-10 after I recently picked it up. He is my first Transformer and I need some things to go with him!
