Deluxe-class Autobot Skids

As a figure this toy is a good representation of th line, I think non-collectors will prefer him over Chromia as he is more playtoy-qualified. Only things that bug me about him are the quadriple knee joint (especially if it's a loose one, like mine), completely pointles Mech Alive and the stability while posing, but the latter can be easily counter acted by flipping out the engine cover and allowing it to double as a support, it really helps pose him in many cool ways.

When ROTF Came out in Poland we had 5 deluxe toys available: Chromia, Smokescreen, Brawl, Wheelie and Skids. Green Boy would be definitely my first recommendation in this group.

Digital Domain says, 'We didn't make one'

OT as far as Skids...

I have been in contact with the public relations department of Digital Domain- which is the special-effects company that split the work with Industrial Light and Magic on both "Transformers" and "Transformers- Revenge of the Fallen".

As you all know, I like including pictures of the final-CGI characters from the movies in my reviews. These are usually publicity images created by the companies that made the models that I found randomly online, not from direct sources. (Sometimes I get them from Wikipedia, or TF2005, or the Transformers Wiki, etc.)

Anyways, in preparation for many of my future RotF reviews, I could not find pictures of several Autobots and Decepticons beyond their leaked painted concept artwork... which is exactly what I don't want. So, I contacted [at least] Digital Domain. They informed me that- of the specific 'bots I was looking for- they worked only on Soundwave. Okay, fine, good to know. For the others, I will have to contact ILM.

I was also informed that, regardless of when I inquired, they had not- and were not ever planning to- produce a full-sized publicity image of CGI Soundwave like they had many other characters! Stunned, I asked why, but I was told that the "publicity window" for RotF had ended, and there was no further interest in producing more images of the like (honestly, no surprise there, so I'm not complaining).

So, for at least 2009,we will never get a full-sized, stand-alone picture of CG Soundwave. (Rest assured, I voiced my own concern over this issue with the contact, and informed them to forward my rage to their PR department if they get to work on TF-3!)

There is such a thing as

There is such a thing as taking a science fiction toy movie TOO seriously, you know. There's really no reason to nerdrage at some deskjockey over the phone about a photo of your favorite cartoon character.

It was for the quality of the review(s) that I look for these CGI pics. But, unfortunately, because I don't get as much feedback as I would like, I can never tell if what I am doing is right or not. This is me striving to make a CDX review look good. It's not a gimmick because the content of a review is in the text and home-made photos; the publicity image is extra for flash.

Do you know how many complaints (including my own) there are about not being able to clearly see the Bayformers bots? All those intricate 10,000+ parts clustered together like a junk yard, and then set to motion is definitely not an easy thing to look at, no matter how many times you hit Rewind and Slow-Motion. (This, one of the reasons I liked the slow-mo cinematography more in RotF- you could actually follow what was going on!)

Besides, they made pics of most of the other bots- why not all of them? It's not like Scalpel had an appointment latter in the day and couldn't reschedule the shoot or something like that! I mean- half the reason for making these 'bots is because the movie is it's about them! We have Megan "Bay is a Nazi on-set" Fox all over the G-D net, but not one single photo of Demolishor, or Arcee, or even Jolt [who really got gypped in the movie].

It is not an unreasonable thing to be able to view a character singly, and not from a screenshot.

...and it was through e-mail.

No, I will not be getting

No, I will not be getting the Ice Cream Truck version of the twins. Aside from the fact that they're even uglier that way, they're really tiny, and I don't want a Transformer that transforms into an ice cream truck on my shelves.

I have both twins in

I have both twins in individual and ice cream truck forms. I found the individual toys to be pretty poor. Tiny legs with weak knees make both of them hard to even stand up. The ice cream truck versions are much better, and have way more play value and charm, at least to me and my kids. The first two toys got opened, transformed once, and ignored. The ice cream truck has been a real hit and gets lots of play time.

The right shoulder on my

The right shoulder on my Skids was weak when I opened him; I rarely can pose it upwards. The neck is also a little loose, but I can deal with that, considering he can't look upwards at all.
Some clear nail polish may be in order here soon...

I guess I like the look of the figure more than his functionality. I figured out how to deal with his roof panels, so that's no problem now. Worst trait would be getting him all lined-up in car mode with the door panels.

Someone else can cover the Ice Cream Truck for CDX; I want no part of it. Both it and the Deluxe-class Autobot Wheelie are the only transformable Autobots that I didn't like in toy form.
