Very nicely done as always...

Very nicely done as always... I've been on the fence about this bad boy lately (gotta save my pennies for the Madoka Magica Figmas XD), but I just might add him to my Christmas wish list on the strength of this review!

Nice work doctor...

As always I feel your reviews are a doctoral thesis on the subject matter, while mine are freshmen book reports. I am impressed by your review, as always. Great job

This was five years of

This was five years of pent-up frustration and angst against the franchise all let loose at once.

But thank you.

Exscuse my use of the Power Ranger names, but,

I'm pretty sure the dino-body type is supposed to be a mixture of the Quantasaurus-Rex and the Dragonzord, with the Rex's main body, and of course the Dragonzords drilltail. The drill mode is reminiscent of the Megazords tank mode, especially with the head placed the way it is, with the added bonus of the Time Force future qualities. And finally, for the robot mode itself, it definitely draws heavily on the Dinothunder Megazords look, but the knee pad symbols are a lot like the Dragonzords own. The head in particular is like a fusion of the Quantasaurus-Rex's robot mode and the Megazords own horn style. At least, that's the way I see it, maybe because I'm looking for those things, then again, I haven't paid attention to Power Rangers or Super Sentai since In Space, so I could be way off base.

WOW. I've always read the Sentai Zord reviews, but this is the first that I've ever felt like buying. This is seriously cool! I LOVE the T-Rex mode! Heck, the robot is really cool as well! All of it is awesome. I mean, I even like the action features! What a cool toy!

You really hit the nail on the head when you say this will break some boundaries and bring in other robot collectors, 'cause this has reeled me in hook, line and sinker!

Better than Gokai-Oh

It's a shame that this toy has more appeal than the plain-looking Gokai-Oh with the add-ons combined.

Glad to see you've like this robot too, EVA...there may be be hope for PLEX to turn their work around since they constantly impart every gimmick that fails in some levels.

Well, nowadays, I keep my enthusiasm and hope in-check regarding whatever comes out of PLEX. I had hoped Shinkenger's toy line would be a turn-around point, and got burned by Goseiger.

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if the size of these DX toys didn't start to grind down a little to, say, DekaRanger Robo and Gao King proportions. It won't get us back to die-cast metal anytime soon (that's a financial crisis thing), but maybe we could grow out of these simple transformations we've had since Boukenger and back into the more complex stuff we remember fondly.

Arrrgh...

Goseiger...

Why did such an abomination like that existed in the first place? Everything about the show was stupid...even the Headder gimmick was utter stupidity.

Articulation

I watched your 2 part review over on YT. They are very in depth which is always informative and entertaining to watch.
The figure does have some great articulation for a Super Sentai DX toy. One of the best Ive seen in a long time.

So articulation.. you want to see some articulation?? How about this? Ya I got the figure yesterday. Very pleased with it. Have to fix the head tho. Needs more movement.

Yes, I have heard that

Yes, I have heard that something can be done to the head of the Gojyujin to make it turn side-to-side, something like loosening a screw or cutting a bit of plastic on the inside. I haven't done it myself yet (coward!), but I've seen pictures- such as the one you provided here- that prove it can be done.

Thanks for the compliment, and for posting the picture!

i just realised something:

i just realised something: Gokaiger is the first sentai in a very, very long time, that features only 2 giant robots for the entirety of the series' run (not counting mounts such as revolver mammoth): gokai-oh and goujyujin
if my memory serves me correct, the last time we had this was with the Dairangers (not counting ryuuseioh, who is a component. if you do count him, it would be zyuranger)

Know what? You're right.

Know what? You're right. Not only are there only two robos in the Gokaiger line, but the last time that happened was in DaiRanger.

QUESTION: is there any difference between these 3 releases...

Guys, is there any difference between these 3 releases other than the box art and one having a bonus key? Are the actual toys any different?

Left to right:

Chinese release? No bonus key.

Identical Japanese box w/ gold foil sticker advertising bonus silver ranger anchor key,
& small circular foil sticker in top right corner is not present.
