Dancouga
Review by AJProDie-Cast
I was given this non-scale plastic model to review. It is 07 Dancouga by Kotobukiya. It's part of the D-style line, which are basically pre-painted snap together models.
It comes in a cardboard box with cool graphics.
When opened has model sprues in various bags and an instruction manual (in numbers and letters to follow...thank god!.)
I never do models (you will see why at the end) and I am a perfect person to review this model. If I can follow the directions and assemble it, a chimpanzee with a hangover can do it.
The model assembled in around 15 minutes and got easier the closer I got to the end.
It has rubber pegs that lock together...
...and provide positioning and movement like a normal figure. It comes with a snap together sword and gun...
...and jet backpack.
The only issue I had with the model was that the barrels on the backpack were not sealed like the picture and looked cheap.
I am not a fan of the "kid" proportioned robots, but it looks cool and does pose nicely.
The arms are kind of limited but no big issues on my end.
The model is colored but requires painting to be true to cover art. They do provide a nice graphic to follow. My attempt is below...you have been warned.
Overall a nicely designed model with novice class for assembly and medium difficultly to paint. If you're into Dancouga, D-Style line, and/or Kotobukiya, grab one.
****WARNING, please do not scroll down if easily upset, images may result in nausea*****
You may want to lie down
....
The model is better left unpainted if your are as "aesthetically challenged" as I am.
Apex3 sticks to finished collectibles....

4 comments postedUgh, I wish I had the supplies and skills to paint scaled models, or I'd be reviewing SD left-and-right since I love it! I've got three models un-built until someday in the distant future where I can do them justice because I can't stand just having silly foil stickers and plain plastic.
This model hasn't been released yet, has it? I saw preview pics of the set some time ago and was planning on getting one, but hadn't seen a pre-order listing for it yet online. LOVE the look of this Dancouga!
it's out in Japan.
I know I have the skills to make a real nice model but I lack 2 things: Tools and time
I used to go all out on car kits but some remained unfinished and some that I finished I never took care of. Over the years I sold my supplies off too. But I vow to take my time with the new Ingram D-Style kit I just got :)
