Gundam Cup Noodle
Review by JoshB
I didn't know quite how to tackle this one.
I saw these on the Rinkya blog and knew I had to have them. The Japanese have been including toys with food for a long time (So have we, BTW), but these were the first that I was compelled to get for my very own.
For the 30th anniversary of Gunpla (Gundam Models), Bandai and soup maker Nissin teamed up to make a very special Cup Noodle.
They released three different versions of their Chili Tomato cup noodle soup, each with a different Gundam figure and cup decoration.
The decoration on the cup specifically reflects the Gundam included. You get your choice of:
- Zaku II
- Gelgoog
- Z'Gok
Each comes in the separate lid container. There are 3-4 sprues and a set of instructions with each. Assembly takes just a few minutes.
Yes, they are small, but I LOVE the color scheme on these. The clear red and orange are just gorgeous. They are actually posable with joints at the head, shoulders and hips, and some even have multiple weapons.
Gelgoog
Zaku II
Z'Gok
AWESOME.
The soup is not bad either. I wanted to have a little fun with this, so I present to you, the very first episode of
COOKING WITH COLLECTIONDX
As a bonus, if you clip the three coupons and mail those in you can get a larger sized Zaku II kit. Click here for details.

Now this is the sort of Gundam I can get into. BTW, when is the second edition of Tokyo Underground being published?
I'm leaving for a one month vacation to Tokyo this October 6, I sure would like the updated book with me.
Looks like a close one, so you might contact the store and see if they can expedite delivery.

Sorry if posting a link is bad manners.
Great video!
That Z'Gok is gorgeous. Heck, they're all beautiful. LOL
These have that crazy, fun factor that speaks to my jaded toy nerd heart. ^_^
Nice review, Josh.
Have you ever seen the exquisite Tiger Mask, Ashita no Joe, Gatchaman and Hokuto no Ken figures and the Yamato battleships given with Pokka Coffee and Boss Coffee?
Aw! I want 'em! I always loved the little Gundam models with the nondescript white fruity candy. Now they come with...well, noodles I probably wouldn't be able to eat, but the little crystal models make up for it! Would be cool to be able to get ahold of those. Would also totally mail away for that big one if I could!
HAHAHA, I love those chalky citrus pellets.
Back on topic, I cracked up in the video review when the crawl started across the screen with "WARNING: DO NOT TRY TO MAKE SOUP THIS WAY, I AM A MORON. YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BOIL THE WATER FIRST..."
