Third parties have made us

Third parties have made us question ourselves.

But we decide which is right

And which is an illusion

I actually really like the color scheme on this, makes the whole thing look very metalic-ey . Loved your thoughts on the side skirts there, they really do look awful, I've already ordered my MP-11 when it was first announced and i can't help but wonder if Takara removed those only for Starscream's photo op. I really hope that isn't the case but if so, i'd feel like they pulled a fast one on me. If not then thumbs up for eliminating the problem.

Masterpiece Jetcon hip skirts

The weird thing is that it seems like the hip skirts didn't even need to be there. If you look at the skirts they're mostly the back half of the FAST pack. The fins could have just as easily been stuck onto the calves.

Well first off, they wouldn't

Well first off, they wouldn't be Kawamori Approved Hip Thingies™ without being attached to the hips now would they :d

As I said in the review the purpose of the FAST packs was to smooth over the side profile as well as to provide an easy show accurate display option. Perhaps making the whole FAST pack removable as a separate unit would have worked better, but that doesn't allow for an easy way to remove the tail fins for show accuracy. The problem is the hollow nature of the lower legs that doesn't allow for a deep peg in connection that could facilitate tail fin removal with some modicum of durability.

The MP line is always sending mixed messages.

Why not just a folding hinge?

Just fold them backwards somewhat, so they go behind the calves. Pretty much like the original line art, in fact.

I mean, there would be these big "plane kibble" parts hanging off the feet, but...as it is now there's even worse-looking plane kibble hanging off the hips...

Do you mean the horizontal

Do you mean the horizontal fins or the vertical ones? Because if you fold the vertical ones they'd extend too far past the calf area. Maybe they could try some weird bifold like the Hasegawa VF-1 kits :3

But you mean just do it like how MP-11 is doing it right? Straight up at the sides like the Kohara art.

I dunno. I think Kawamori wanted to do his hip thingie thing and give the anime accurate option. It's just that Takara didn't really promote that ability.

In the end, now we have one that doesn't look that much better and fixes nothing. Hooray.

Yeah, MP-11 is exactly what I was thinking

Good call. And I also agree that this looks more like they wanted a "Ver. Ka" seeker jet, and probably knew what that would mean for the hips. And--like you--I think it doesn't look anything at all like something you'd see on a Transformer, either the original Diaclone toy or the line art or the animation or any of it. Transformers don't have verniers or AMBAC gimcrackery!

God Ginrai has a lot of huge

God Ginrai has a lot of huge rockets that let him fly to the moon :D

Maybe if they'd let you put those parts on the wings it'd be fine. Even more top heavy, but fine.
