Go-Onger combination- Engine Gattai Engine-Oh G9

I thought this was insanity.

I thought this was insanity. It's like packing random lego parts together, you feel no sense or amazingness in it and this problem in my opinion goes as far as to Hurricane and Aba Rangers. Before, everything was fine and the combinations didn't seem to be forced.

Seriously, would you display them is such form? Besides, the Go-Ongers don't have this nice humanoid feel like older combiners have. And just as I thought G9 was absurd already, then comes something even more scary...

I really admire your courage and willingness to buy these toys on and on, Eva.

Well, um- "courage" had

Well, um- "courage" had nothing to do with my decision to cover this. I had Jumbwhale and everything else so I kinda needed to cover it.

Actually, it takes up less shelf space if I store it in G9 Formation. That way, I only have to worry about the Engine DaiShougun, Go-Roader GT, and MantanGun.

Dude- Super Sentai lost its old-school-robos style years ago, around the time of "GoGo-V" in 1999. Pretty much everything since has been dedicated to limb-swapping and gimmicks.

I won't commit now, but I think the newest series has been spied online...? The Red ranger is covered in 5-point stars, and has a TimeRanger feel

Shinkenger's super merges

Shinkenger's super merges are better than this.

Re: Shinkenger's super merges

Is the Daikai Shinken-Oh the last combo for the year? Seems odd to end it in July, but there don't seem to be any more unused joints on the toys so far...

Personally I'd have thought

Personally I'd have thought not.
If the general pattern holds we're probably getting something new when the episodes reach the mid-30s.
I agree that there doesn't seem to be anything they can add to the current 10 part gattai. We could hope that this means an old-school carrier mecha, but somehow I doubt that, maybe a second five-part gattai that has its own transformation features with Kabuto, Kajiki, Tora and Ebi Origami. Worst case scenario is we get something like SaiDai-Oh or DaiVoyager that doesn't really do much of anything outside of its own transformation.

...or MagiLegend.

Dear God above- PLEASE don't ever let them make one of those again-! ;_;

Y'know MagiLegend didn't

Y'know MagiLegend didn't even occur to me. I think my brain had gone out of its way to repress the memories of that one. On the other hand they could take the DekaWingRobo approach.

Is this a Power Ranger thing...

I'm not sure that's why I ask? What I find funny about this combiner is the faces on the cars, silly, yellow bellybot with eyes, blue crotchbot with eyes. The toy design is out of control pieces sticking out all over the place. "Watch it kid you'll poke your eye out." This guy wouldn't be much of a fighter in the robot world just push him over see if can stand back up.

Re: Is this a Power Ranger thing...

Truthfully, the eyes-thing doesn't bother me as much. More like things like Jettoras and Toripter just perched-out on the shoulders like birds, the giant flat feet, and the G-D mudflap.

There will be more

Well, it could be said I'm in the minority since I love everything in Go-onger up to G12. I may be biased since it was the first sentai I watched.

And don't worry; Shinkenger will have it's own dose of super cluster combination with the fourth mecha Mogyu Dai-Oh and the 11 part combination Samurai Ha-Oh.

I personally don't like the

I personally don't like the figures separately. I keep all of them in G12 formation. I thought g6 and g9 were blocks of plastic you couldn't do anything with. At least g12 looks nice for a lump of plastic.
I don't know about Shinkenger from what I have seen so far, it will be a lot like MaxOhja from abaranger. I have all the figures up until now and it looks like it is going the way of a lump of plastic. And I really do not care much for DaikaiShinkenoh. Daivoyager looks better.

Yeah I dont like how the

Yeah I dont like how the 'birds' just sit on the shoulders.. don't seem like they fill any purpose.. and just like you said just stacked on.

I've got the G12 candy toy set and its massive (I don't have the space or money to get the DX versions) but its not really playable.. Its too complicated and things fall off when trying to pose.. so its basically a statue. I missed out on the Engine DaiShougun :(

So far for Shinkenger, the Tenku Shinken-Oh is horrible in candy toy form.. I have yet to get Ika & Ebi so I can't enjoy Daikai Shinken-Oh yet.. I'll get them when DaiGoyou comes out..

A tiger is not a bird

Toripter and Jetoras are basically shoulder guns in this formation.

Toripter and Jetoras

I actually kinda like what was done with them in this combo. They're being used as shoulder-mounted weapons systems, with Jetoras' Torahawk missile launcher and Toripter's forward batteries having a clear field of fire ahead when the arms are straight. You could easily load and fire Jetoras' launcher on the toy in this combo.

Kyoretsu-Oh and G12

I know you've said in the past that you're not interested in the Dino Engines. Has that changed at all in the wake of the rubbish train mecha ToQger offered? Kishamoth and even the gimped BoA Mammoth Paleozord had working side-rods, while the ToQger stuff..
