The 00 Gundam kits are well

The 00 Gundam kits are well engineered, but I honestly didn't care for any of the Big Four in the show. Or the Thrones. I was thrilled with the grunts though, mostly the Flag. I just hope that stuff from 00F like Astraea Type F and Salasuud get kits soon. There is an Astraea kit, but I don't think it has the Type F mask.

TYPE F

Actually that one's the next one to be released. For 00 they're doing as much as I suppose they will from the MSV (such as the upcoming Avalanche Exia), Side Stories, and the Show that they can before Season 2. But the Red Astraea Type F will come with the mask and a modified 'V' Crest, otherwise its just the same as the other Astraea only in Red. Speaking of which, I just finished building the regular Astraea. Its fundamentally a new kit built on top of the existing Exia, it uses the same core parts to build the arms, torso, and legs, but its a new head and surrounding armor parts.

That sounds great! Now I just need them to release a Salasuud to get my gunpla fix on.

sorry to be picky,
but there is no 1/100 scale HG.
this doesn't have "grade"

Forgiven but Incorrect

Thanks for the comment, but the 1/100 scale kits do qualify as High Grade kits. The kits posess a high level of sophistication in their engineering, volume of construction and level of detail etched in the parts.

qualify??

I am talking about the official title, not based on how well it is made.
Remember seed kits? 1/100 were called "real detail", and this is just upgraded version of that.
I do agree its level is about HG or even better than that, I am just saying the
title can be little bit misleading.

HG

I agree that it's a HG. the non grade would be the limited pose 1/144, the 300 yen kit. HG comes in 1/100 and 1/144 scale.

The details in the kit

The details in the kit rivals some of the latest MGs except the lack of an inner frame.

It's a nitpick...

...but a relatively small one. Virtue's model designation is GN-05, not GN-04: that one goes to the Gundam hiding under Virtue's armor, the GN-04 Nadleeh.

I like the Exia

Having not seen "Gundam OO" yet, I really like the Exia- it's a very contemporary, almost art deco interpretation. I'd even call it a distant cousin of the Turn-A.

Oh, and while I really like the bulkiness of the Virtue, the Nadleeh sucks.

I'm of the opposite opinion.

I'm of the opposite opinion. That is, when Nadleeh has the Plutone style shield/rifle. I just can't dig Thunderthighs Gundam.

RD, HG, Tomato

Okay, well this debate about the grade scale is a misunderstanding of terms scale or grade. After five years of SEED kits were some where no more than scaled up versions of one another (1/144 HG Freedom to 1/100 scale HG Freedom), the kits from 00 really show a difference in more than just exterior panels compared to their smaller grade counterparts. For instance the Arms: where the 1/100 scale assembly is built around a 'chain link' style elbow and constructed into the body of the forearm and the bicep, whereas the 1/144 HG is done as a basic sock and peg hinge. This certainly is not a scaled up incarnation. Its just been more natural to Me as a writer to call the 1/00 scales a High Grade class because that is what I see when I open the box and build them.

As far as detailing goes, 00 is bringing High Grades closer to a lesser MG class of their own with "Mechanical Detail" areas. This was introduced with the Astraea and continued with the Flag, Teirran, and the upcoming Avalanche Exia where you can remove panels and see an underlying mechanism. Its not like stripping down the whole model for an endoskeleton, but just a nice little bit of "See this is what's here" for certain areas, as in the Astraea it uncovers panels on the shoulder armor and you can strip down the rifles.

Yuushu; my bad. every time I looked up the designation numbers, the Virtue/Nadleeh package always came up as GN-04.
