Hah...? Speak for yourself-! I'm not impressed by the F-type equipment at all! It, like, completely ruins the spirit of the EVAs! :( Typical upgrade problem- improve it by making it more powerful that it originally was by completely breaking with what has already been established. :P

  • The only energy weapon(s) that the EVAs ever used were the 'regular' Positron Cannon (held under-the-arm fashion) and High-Powered Positron Rifle (looks like a long sniper's rifle), and it takes quite a bit of power to run those (all the electrical power of Japan for the latter!).
  • Having such thick armor is pointless on an EVA to begin with. With the ability to deploy AT Fields- which are strong enough to withstand point-blank nuclear blasts- what's the point of weighing down their bodies with excess materials?
  • On that second point, by the time the F-type equipment was developed, batteries would no longer be needed since they would have perfected the S2 Engine by then and made the EVAs self-sustaining. (Besides, remember what happened to Unit-01 after the 14th Angel struck...?) The external batteries that we saw about mid-way through the series were designed to be jettisoned to lighten the EVAs' loads. Only thing you'd need batteries for might be those cannons on the utility wings, but two things: 1- the amount of power needed couldn't possibly be held in those batteries for more than one shot; and 2- you'd still need to worry about the EVA's own power-consumption needs (specifically Units -00', -02, and -03).
  • Why make a different kind of stylized Progressive Knife shaped like that? Progressive weapons don't cause damage because they are sharp and pointed- they cause damage because they vibrate on the molecular level.

One of the things that was revolutionary about the designs of the Evangelion Units was how slim and not-bulky they were, a complete contrast from mainstream designs from shows like "Gundam".
.
I never liked the F-type design. You'd only need to look at the D-type used by Unit-02 to see that flaw- it didn't improve on anything. Quite the contrary, it was even more limiting for the red-&-orange EVA despite the protection from the magma it provided.

Ok, well, maybe I should

Ok, well, maybe I should have said it just looks cooler.

I've only seen the eva TV series, and only once, so I am by far an EVA authority. However, after the 9 millionth eva toy that looks basically the same, this is a welcome change.

I'll admit i dont know

I'll admit i dont know anything about the circumstances that brought about the Type-F, but what if the enemy is not angelic? like another Eva, the JSDDF or perhaps another Jet Alone project? The Extra Armor would come in handy then.

BTW D-Type equipment did what it was intended to do. Unit-02 would not have survived if it wasn't for it.

Re: I'll admit i don't know

Doesn't matter what kind of origins its opponent is- understand that an AT Field can resist nuclear-sized explosions at point-blank range! What do you need armor for with protection like that!? Only exception is if the Field is neutralized, but then, that's the risk. And even then, what can armor mostly composed of space for batteries do to protect against the powers of an Angel that can penetrate an AT Field...? Of course, every defense does have its own weakness.

As much as I love the anime,

As much as I love the anime, and AT fields rule, etc., I still really enjoy this figure. It simply looks awesome, and poses pretty well.
