Ahh, yes, my favorite

Ahh, yes, my favorite Destroid. It's the most humanoid, yes, but it's got pop-out missile launchers and cannon, which is always awesome.

I wish they'd make an updated model of it, though, because those hip joints and thin upper arms always bugged me. If Yamato ever makes a 1/60 set, I'll be all over it like white on rice.

Spartan Rebirth

Much agreed Eva-san, we need a nice Spartan rebirth of new model kits and toys. Although this builds into a descent kit and a nostalgic build, these kits are just too long in the tooth in terms of ease of construction, detail and poses.

The worst issue was the construction of the hip and leg area which absolutely makes no sense. But again I will go over those issues when I review the standard Spartan kit later in the year. I just wanted to focus on the finish of this version of the kit.

Cheers

You're crazy man.

You're crazy, man.
Not liking chrome is like not liking glowies, or not liking cutaways, or not liking clear reissues...

it's just not possible for humans, by penalty of death ;)

Then I shall die with my head held high, notable gaps in my collecshun, and moar moneyz in my pocketses because I say "Meh" when it comes to glowies and clear reissues. But I do like an occasional cutaway. ^^

Almost a random question: Is it Arii who put out the (cor, don't even know what scale... 3 inch tall iirc) macross stuff that was snap together + a screw in the back with a translucent plastic dome and a suction cup for mounting on the window?

Nichimo Macross

Hello Jay,

You are referring to the Nichimo Macross Pitiban series model kits, I believe most of the vehicles were in 1/200 scale.

A little side trivia, Testors also released these NIchimo kits reboxed in the USA before Robotech aired as "R.O.B.O.T." model kits and were actually the first Macross related item I owned before Robotech aired.

The detail of those kits are fantastic and the Box art was amazing but they are quite pricey on the second hand market.

Here is Macross World's list on Nichimo Kits

Cheers!

Thanks... I remember buying

Thanks... I remember buying those models for $.50 a pop back in the day (up to $2.50, iirc, for the SDF-1) and I occasionally wish I had bought more and never built them...

I own just about all of the 1/200 Nichimo kits, but I have never heard of this suction cup affair... got any more details?

Here's a good example:

The Little plastic case has a suction cup on the back. In fact that's what my Japanese Co-worker thinks what "Pitaban" stands for, the sound of the suction of the cup.

Cheers!
