Leia figures have been tough to do. Nobody has really captured Carrie Fisher's likeness well on figures of this size. She's practically un-sculptable.

The Boushh disguise is another matter. I love the design of this costume, and I typically pick one up each time it is issued. When the 30th anniversary collection came out, and Leia as Boushh came out, I jumped right on it.

Leia as Boushh comes with a helmet, weapon and thermal detonator. The weapon is too soft and comes bent out of shape in the package. The thermal detonator attaches to the left hand but I wouldn't recommend removing it - it is so small you will probably lose it.

Articulation is great from the waist down, with articulated hips, knees and ankles.

The shoulder are ball jointed, but the elbows only have swivel joints, pretty much guaranteeing that the pose she is in will be the only pose she can do.

The neck is articulated and of course the helmet is removable.

The face on this figure is atrocious. Leia looks as if she had her oxygen supply cut off coming out of the womb. Its just horrible really. Keep the helmet on this one. She is what we like to call in toy terms, a "Butterface" as in the body is nice, BUT HER FACE...!

So when he is sent to Utapau to confront General Grievous, the leader of the Separatist droid army, Obi-Wan requisitions a new fighter for the mission. He leaves Coruscant aboard a Republic attack cruiser, then departs from the cruiser in the starfighter. He uses a hyperspace ring to reach Utapau, not knowing how this mission will end…but all too aware of Grievous’ deadly skill with a lightsabre.

Today I will be reviewing Obi Wan's starfighter from Hasbro's Star Wars 30th anniversary collection.

Obi Wan's starfighter comes in the nicely illustrated 30th anniversary box as shown below. I actually really like this packaging. The reason I like this box is because of the designers choice to use a dynamic action illustration of the craft coupled with the pilots face in the right corner. In my opinion this combination seems to complement one another.

The ship right out of the box requires no assembly and is made from nice quality plastic. Obi Wan's Starfighter differs from others in this line because it has tons of tiny, hard to apply stickers. Unlike Anakin Skywalker's that had all details already applied by the manufacturer. This is still a great relief considering that Aayla Secura's Starfighter had none. Where is the consistency Hasbro?

I really like the design of this Starfighter, it's impressive, featuring aesthetically pleasing lines that really share the look with the episode IV-VI ships.

The next 5 photos show you a quick walk around of the ship. Some of the highlights I would like to point out are the retractable landing gear, removable R2 unit, firing missiles with release button located on the rear portion of wing. Also, note the great weathering detail and how the front of the cockpit bears a very strong resemblance to a TIE fighter.

The next 2 photos show the Starfighter with the wings open. The wings are spring loaded are are actuated with a lever located at the rear underside of the cockpit. With the wings open you can really see this ships obvious relation to the TIE fighter.

The next 2 photos give you a close up the R2 unit. You can remove the R2 unit, leaving a void. I thought that maybe the void would accept a full size astromech figure. Unfortunately it doesn't. Its still a nice touch to add to the ship.

The last photo shows you the canopy open, allowing view of the nicely appointed cockpit of this small starfighter. All the details are stickers and were actually pretty difficult to apply.

After all the above being said I must say that I like this ship. I think its a very cool design that lends to the history of the TIE fighters lineage. The only thing that I feel is bad about this ship is that Hasbro has made a repaint for almost every Knight in the Jedi order. The "bad" part about this is that each ship has virtually no difference from another. You can see this in the review of Anakin Skywalker's and Aayla Secura's Jedi Starfighters. My advice is just buy one. To make your choice easier, pick one that is piloted by your favorite character or is your favorite color scheme, unless your a completest or have tons of disposable income.

:

Today I will be reviewing the Sith Infiltrator from Hasbro's Star Wars 30th anniversary collection. It comes packaged in a nicely illustrated 30th anniversary box with the ship and a pic of its pilot Darth Maul on the front.

Removing the Sith Infiltrator from its box is a snap with hardly any assembly involved. All you need to due is snap on the two front panels and your off! No pain to apply stickers involved, this is a trend I wish Hasbro would stick with. The ship is constructed of nice high quality materials making it very sturdy with a nice feel.

The first four pictures give you a quick walk around the ship. Notice that this ships design just looks plain mean! This thing just oozes with Dark side of the Force.

I love this ship, I feel it's one of the coolest Star War's vehicles released to date. Even though the scale is off, Hasbro was still able to pull off a good looking feature packed toy with tons of play value. If you don't have it, get it! You can still find it cheap enough on Ebay.

:

With his own fighter gone, Anakin borrows another starfighter to make the journey to Mustafar where he will carry out his Master’s deadly orders.

Today I will be reviewing Anakin Skywalker's starfighter from Hasbro's Star Wars 30th anniversary collection.

Anakin's starfighter comes in the nicely illustrated 30th anniversary box as shown below. I actually really like this packaging. The reason I like this box is because of the designers choice to use a dynamic action illustration of the craft coupled with the pilots face in the right corner. In my opinion this combination seems to complement one another.

The ship right out of the box requires no assembly and is made from nice quality plastic. Anakin's Starfighter differs from others in this line because it has no stickers to apply. All details are already applied by the manufacturer. This is a great relief considering that Obi Wan Kenobi's Starfigher had a ton of small difficult to apply stickers and Aayla Secura's Starfighter had none. Where is the consistency Hasbro?

I really like the design of this Starfighter, it's impressive, featuring aesthetically pleasing lines that really share the look with the episode IV-VI ships.

The next 6 photos show you a quick walk around of the ship. Some of the highlights I would like to point out are the retractable landing gear, removable R2 unit, firing missiles with release button located on the rear portion of wing. Also, note the great weathering detail and how the front of the cockpit bears a very strong resemblance to a TIE fighter.

Do you recognize that familiar little droid? R2-D2 appears on Star Wars ships more times than I can think of. He has got to be one of the most popular characters in the Star Wars universe. You can remove the R2 unit, leaving a void. I thought that maybe the void would accept a full size astromech figure. Unfortunately it doesn't. Its still a nice touch to add to the ship.

As a Jedi Knight she commands troops during the conflict as a Republic General and flies her fighter on many intelligence-gathering missions and covert operations. One such mission takes her to Trigalis, where she assists Obi-Wan Kenobi in his hunt for Asajj Ventress.

Today I will be reviewing Aayla Secura's starfighter from Hasbro's Star Wars 30th anniversary collection (Target Exclusive).

Aayla's starfighter comes in the nicely illustrated 30th anniversary box as shown below. I actually really like this packaging. The reason I like this box is because of the designers choice to use a dynamic action illustration of the craft coupled with the pilots face in the right corner. In my opinion this combination seems to complement one another.

The ship right out of the box requires no assembly and is made from nice quality plastic. Aayla's starfighter differs from others in this line because it has absolutely no stickers to apply and has no weathering. Unlike Anakin Skywalker's that had all details already applied by the manufacturer. This is still a great relief considering that Obi Wan's Starfighter had a ton of small hard to apply stickers and weathering.

Also, note how the front of the cockpit bears a very strong resemblance to a TIE fighter.

Y-wing starfighters are powerful vessels in the Rebel Alliance fleet, with ample firepower that includes laser cannons and proton torpedoes. The Rebel forces make do with whatever vehicles they can obtain, and the sturdy Y-wing is a good fighter for them because it can withstand heavy attack and still remain space-worthy. During the Battle of Yavin, Y-wing fighters fend off Imperial fighters to clear a path for the Rebels to reach the Death Star's vulnerable exhaust port. Rebel pilot Lieutenant Lepira flies Gold Four, the point Y-wing for Gold Squadron at the Battle of Yavin, but is shot down during that pivotal battle.

Today I will be reviewing the Toys R Us exclusive 30th anniversary Y-wing fighter. The Y-wing fighter comes packaged in an attractive window box. As you know, assuming you've read my other Star Wars reviews, I gripe about Hasbro not being consistent with the style of packaging they use. However, I must admit that I like Hasbro's choice in using the window box. The packaging gives you a great view of the ship and included figures. The included figures are Lieutenant Lepira and his trusty astromech R5-F7.

After removing the Y-wing from the box its ready for play, no assembly is required! This will be the very first Star Wars ship that I've bought/reviewed that you can actually enjoy right out of the box.

The ship is comprised of quality plastic and feels sturdy with the exception of the flimsy parts that are located directly behind the engines (this is shown in the 3rd picture below).

The first 3 photo's give you a quick view of the nicely detailed weathering on this cool Rebel fighter/bomber.

The next picture gives you another view of the bomb nestled neatly underneath the Y-wing's space frame. You also get a good view of the landing gear and R5-F7 astromech droid.

Here's a good closeup of the included R5-F7 astromech droid. Please note that the astromech shown in the photo above is non-removable. I know this stinks, but look on the bright side, at least Hasbro included the actual figure.

The final shot shows the button to drop the bomb located directly behind the R5-F7 astromech droid. Notice the other button located further back, that button lowers the landing gear.

Overall, I like this toy. I feel its a great choice for the casual Star Wars fan or collector. I say this because it possesses playability, gimmicks, and the detail that fan's and collector's alike expect in a great toy.

:

A specially trained clone trooper serves as a pilot for this attack vessel that can carry a crew of clone troopers and has an on-board astromech droid to handle in-flight operations. The well-armed fighter lives up to its name as an aggressive vehicle against the Separatist forces during the Clone Wars.

Today I will be reviewing the Target Exclusive, ARC-170 fighter from Hasbro's Star Wars 30th Anniversary Collection.

The box has a great illustration of the ARC-170 in battle and shows a Clone Trooper pilot in the top corner. The Clone Trooper in the corner is a little misleading because the ship does not come with an action figure. If you have read any of my other Star Wars reviews you will know my gripe about packaging. Hasbro goes back and forth from window box to enclosed box with illustrations. Geez, will you make up your mind Hasbro!

Upon opening box you will see that some minor assembly is required. Attach both wings, attach cannons to the wing tips, finally the rear gun and your done! Once the ship is together it is really large and impressive. The ship is quite heavy and feels like its comprised of quality plastics.

The next few photo's give you a walk around the ship showing you the WWII inspired Tiger Shark paint scheme. This paint scheme is the Target store only exclusive. Note that the red tips of the outboard wing guns actually fire.

The final photo shows the pistol handle that is hidden on the underside of the ship. The pistol handle serves two purposes. First it's a sturdy holding point for when flying the ARC-170 around the room, and second the button on the grip releases the bomb hatch located forward on the pistol grip.

All the above being said, I really and I mean REALLY like this toy! From its size to its heft and detail, its just plain sweet! My suggestion, If you want this ship buy the ARC-170 Elite Squad battle pack figures to go with it. Both this ship and the mentioned figures are Target exclusives that are long sold out but you can still find them on Ebay for a reasonable price.

:

Great vintage-style figure or Greatest Vintage-style figure? You be the judge.:

Bossk is one of the 6 Bounty hunters seen on the bridge of Darth Vader's Star Destroyer in "The Empire Strikes Back". While Boba Fett gets all the glory, the other Bounty Hunters get no love. That is, until Hasbro included them in their Vintage figure line.

This may be one of the greatest Star Wars action figures ever made.

Now I am no Bossk fanboy. I love the bounty hunters as much as the next guy, but Bossk never did it for me. The vintage version just looked lame. But I ended up reading Tales of the Bounty Hunters, a 1996 anthology of short stories based on the characters tasked with finding Captain Solo. It fleshed out each of the characters so much that it renewed my interest in those lesser characters, even Dengar.

So why is this figure so great?

First, the vintage card back. Hasbro included Bossk as part of it's vintage collection, a line that brought classic characters and packaging to the new era. The card back is the same as the vintage toy, but the figure is all new. It takes advantage of all of the recent advances in Hasbro figures.

The sculpt is awesome. Every scale stands out, every button on his outfit. Paint application is flawless. His outfit is molded out of several different pieces, with the breathing apparatus and parts of his flight suit being separate.

Articulation is amazing for a figure this size. I count 17 points of articulation in this little guy. He just looks amazing.

It's really too bad that Hasbro doesn't do all their figures like this. I'd gladly pay $10 a figure for improved articulation and detailing.

Here’s another one of my favorite childhood characters done right in modern toy form.

I won’t go into how great of a movie the Empire Strikes Back is, but I will talk a bit about the Bounty Hunters. How is it possible that these creatures who only get seconds of screen time can captivate me for over TWENTY YEARS?

Toys, that’s how. Although Boba Fett, Dengar, Zuckuss, IG-88, Bossk and 4-LOM only appeared briefly in the movie, they have had numerous toys made over the years, and have even been given fleshed-out backstories. That all makes it cool now, but as a kid, I was mesmerized by some of the best designs in the trilogy. (Aside from Dengar – what is with that guy?)

Zuckuss instantly became my favorite character in the movie. That grey metal body with the insectoid head and that gun, oh that glorious large gun! What was his story? Well, come to find out, his name isn’t Zuckuss at all, it’s 4-LOM. Apparently Hasbro made a mistake on the packaging and got these two mixed up. It’s still tough to think of this guy as 4-LOM. To me, 4-LOM is the bounty hunter that you had to mail away for, the one that Ricky Michaud stole from me and gave to some other kids near his house. Of course, I think I stole it from someone else, but I digress….

Hasbro is actually now Rockin’ the star wars line with great representations of their classic figures. This guy is articulated like crazy – a far cry from the vintage figure, or any of the subsequent releases. As far as I am concerned, there is the vintage version and this one. That’s it. The only 2 you need.

4-LOM is very articulated for a droid, with joints at the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, waist, hips, knees and ankles. The only thing lacking is some kind of side motion on the hips to allow the figure to spread his legs out a bit.

Included is his signature gun, which actually has paint detail. Unfortunately, 4-LOM has a hard time holding the gun in any position except for how he holds it in the movie.

Also included is a collector’s coin. You know, for the collectors. They like to collect things, so why not give them a coin?
