Exo-Force

On the Sentai Mountain, humans work side-by-side with intelligent robots in mines. They use large excavation machines to dig out, gather, and transport mined rock to the surface. Unfortunately, an error occurred in one of the machines, and it sparked a vicious rebellion. Robots turned on their human masters, and through the fighting a series of mysterious explosions blasted the mountain into two halves. The robots were eventually driven deep into the newly-formed canyon far below.

Peace was restored, and the humans began building long bridges to span the two halves of the tall mountain. But deep underground, the robots came together again, and grew quietly; rebuilding their mining machines into powerful Battle Machines with armor and weapons. Their surprise return ignited another furious war, which allowed them to take control of half of Sentai Mountain. The robots were about to take on the second half when they were halted by a secret human project: Exo-Force. The humans had quickly assembled a team of warriors, and built their own Battle Machines to counter the robots.

Now, the robots’ wave of conquest has been halted at the Tenchi Bridge because of the new Exo-Force, high above the base of the mountain. There is now a stand-off between the two sides...

Overwhelmed at the sheer technical genius and awe-inspiring power, Ryo wondered how he could even think that his old Mobile Defense Tank design was a good idea…

While the Battle Arachnoid and Dark Panther more closely resemble real animals (a spider and a- a… whatever), the details in its online profile at Exo-Force.com suggest that it is more related to a dragonfly.

The Dark Panther mounts two Iron Drones mid-body with their own laser rifles. When need-be, they can detach from the Battle Machine and take off independently through the jungle in their matching hover jet packs!

The formula which worked so well for the Assault Tiger didn’t work quite so well here, especially on the torso and small arms.
The Assault Tiger very much depends on- and owes its very existence to- the anime industry of Japan. While most Battle Machines of the past have had minor influences that contributed to the overall look of each successive Exo-Force line, this one has perhaps the heaviest style influence yet.

The Battle Arachnoid is one of the smaller Battle Machines designed to move in through the very tall and powerful-looking trees.

Ha-Ya-To is less than thrilled with his new ride... While the River Dragon seems like a cool name, he was rather disappointed that it could not really fly.

This toy is one of EVA_Unit_4A's three choices for Hottest Must-Have Items for the 2007 Christmas shopping season!
Now this is the anime influence at its best-!

The Golden Guardian is a representation of the best that any Battle Machine can offer.
The Sky Guardian shares a similar structure and construction method with the Blade Titan, and vaguely-similar traits with Hikaru’s original Stealth Hunter ride from the debut 2006 line, but that’s about it.
The Shadow Crawler is devious and dangerous like the very-powerful Striking Venom is, but on a smaller scale.
The Blade Titan is basically a rehash of the Grand Titan from the 2006 line, but with different parts.

Rather than going for complete uniformity in its design, the right arm is this huge, lop-sided limb than hangs awkwardly and looks like a giant club.

I can say with confidence that, despite being the smallest set of the year, this is easily going to be my most-favored set of the 2007 line!
I give my highest recommendations for the Striking Venom ! (If you can spare the shelf space, that is...)
