    </a>

   </div>
</div>

<p>When Sokka and his sister Kaitara discover the Avatar, Aang, encased in a block of ice, their lives change forever.</p>
<p>Together &ndash; Sokka, Katara and Aang set out on a mission to defeat the Fire Nation.</p>

<div class ="giImageBlock g2image_centered"><div class="one-image">

                              <a href="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery/Toys/Mattel/Avatar/WTSokka/PC262495.jpg.html" >

      <img src="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery2/gallery/d/71556-5/PC262495.jpg" width="480" height="640" class="giThumbnail" alt="Water Tribe Sokka" longdesc="Water Tribe Sokka"/>
    </a>

   </div>
</div>

<p>The Water Tribe Sokka figure is just as excellent as the <a href="http://www.collectiondx.com/taxonomy/term/722"><strong>other Avatar figures</strong></a>. It features a wide range of articulation and has the cool rubber clothing</p>

<div class ="giImageBlock g2image_centered"><div class="one-image">

                              <a href="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery/Toys/Mattel/Avatar/WTSokka/PC262498.jpg.html" >

    </a>

   </div>
</div>

<p>Sokka comes with a few accessories. Most notable is his boomerang and holster. The boomerang fits into the holster which attaches to Sokka&rsquo;s back. Unfortunately, the holster does not like to stay attached to the back of the figure. Also included is 2 war clubs and a spear.</p>

<div class ="giImageBlock g2image_centered"><div class="one-image">

                              <a href="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery/Toys/Mattel/Avatar/WTSokka/PC262506.jpg.html" >

      <img src="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery2/gallery/d/71565-5/PC262506.jpg" width="480" height="640" class="giThumbnail" alt="Water Tribe Sokka" longdesc="Water Tribe Sokka"/>
    </a>

   </div>
</div>

<p>The sculpt looks somewhat like Sokka, but not exactly. Fisher-Price tends to sculpt these characters with a negative or neutral look &ndash; a stark contrast to the tone of the show. If anything, Sokka is goofy, lighthearted and affable. </p>

<div class ="giImageBlock g2image_centered"><div class="one-image">

                              <a href="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery/Toys/Mattel/Avatar/WTSokka/PC262503.jpg.html" >

    </a>

   </div>
</div>

<p>This figure comes from the first series of action figures &ndash; the Air Series. The second series has been released and we have seen NINE Aang figures, TWO Zuko figures and TWO Sokka figures. We have heard that there will be a Katara figure in series 3 (fire), but I&rsquo;ll believe it when I see it.</p><br class="giImageBlock-clear-both" />: </label>

 <label><p>Unleash the firebending fury of Zuko!</p><br class="giImageBlock-clear-both" />: </label>

</div>
</div><div class="flexinode-textarea-6"><div class="form-item">
 <label><p><strong>Fire Blast Zuko</strong> comes from the Nick Show <strong>Avatar: The Last Airbender</strong>. Prince Zuko is the son of the Fire Lord. He has been exiled and once was driven to find and capture the Avatar. Now, he is a refugee in the city of Ba Sing Se.</p>
<p>This version of Zuko shows him in his military gear, before he became a refugee and cut his hair. This is a perfect representation of Zuko, right down to the scar on his face.</p>
<div align="center"><div class ="giImageBlock nowrap"><div class="one-image">

                              <a href="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery/Toys/Mattel/Avatar/FireZuko/P9171050.jpg.html" >

      <img src="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery2/gallery/d/50050-3/P9171050.jpg" width="480" height="640" class="giThumbnail" alt="Fire Blast Zuko" longdesc="Fire Blast Zuko"/>
    </a>

   </div>
</div></div>
<p>Like the Aang figure, the Zuko figure has rubber clothing to enable more realistic movements. The figure is very poseable, and just looks fantastic. He's a bit taller than Aang, which is true to the show (I think Zuko is 3 years older than Aang).</p>
<div align="center"><div class ="giImageBlock nowrap"><div class="one-image">

                              <a href="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery/Toys/Mattel/Avatar/FireZuko/P9171055.jpg.html" >

      <img src="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery2/gallery/d/50053-3/P9171055.jpg" width="500" height="375" class="giThumbnail" alt="Fire Blast Zuko" longdesc="Fire Blast Zuko"/>
    </a>

   </div>
</div></div>
<p>Fire Blast Zuko comes with a Fire Blast accessory that attaches to his back. It is similar to Aang's Air cannon, only colored red and has fire-based detailing. Like Aang's cannon, this one shoots missiles and has a light up feature.</p>
<div align="center"><div class ="giImageBlock nowrap"><div class="one-image">

                              <a href="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery/Toys/Mattel/Avatar/FireZuko/P9171058.jpg.html" >

      <img src="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery2/gallery/d/50056-3/P9171058.jpg" width="480" height="640" class="giThumbnail" alt="Fire Blast Zuko" longdesc="Fire Blast Zuko"/>
    </a>

   </div>
</div></div>
<p> Also included are three target barrels. The missile launchers are weak, so you have to get pretty close to the barrels to knock them over.</p>
<div align="center"><div class ="giImageBlock nowrap"><div class="one-image">

                              <a href="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery/Toys/Mattel/Avatar/FireZuko/P9171059.jpg.html" >

    </a>

   </div>
</div></div>
<p>This is probably the best figure from this line so far. The likeness is uncanny. Good Job Mattel.</p>

 So how do you replicate airbending power in an action figure? Mattel found one way.:

 <label><p>So how do you replicate airbending power in an action figure? Mattel found one way.</p><br class="giImageBlock-clear-both" />: </label>

</div>
</div><div class="flexinode-textarea-6"><div class="form-item">
 <label><p>From the hit Nick show <strong>Avatar: The Last Airbender</strong> comes <strong>Air Cannon Aang</strong>. It's the same figure as <a href="http://www.collectiondx.com/node/1008"><strong>Airbending Aang</strong></a>, plus a few new accessories. </p>
<div align="center"><div class ="giImageBlock nowrap"><div class="one-image">

                              <a href="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery/Toys/Mattel/Avatar/AirCannonAang/P9171047.jpg.html" >

      <img src="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery2/gallery/d/50025-3/P9171047.jpg" width="500" height="375" class="giThumbnail" alt="Air Cannon Aang" longdesc="Air Cannon Aang"/>
    </a>

   </div>
</div></div>
<p>The figure is excellent, having a full range of poseability and some innovate rubber clothing. I still have a problem with the face, but I am getting used to it.</p>
<div align="center"><div class ="giImageBlock nowrap"><div class="one-image">

                              <a href="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery/Toys/Mattel/Avatar/AirCannonAang/P9171040.jpg.html" >

      <img src="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery2/gallery/d/50022-3/P9171040.jpg" width="480" height="640" class="giThumbnail" alt="Air Cannon Aang" longdesc="Air Cannon Aang"/>
    </a>

   </div>
</div></div>
<p>What makes this figure a deluxe figure is the inclusion of the Air Cannon pack and targets.</p>
<p>The Air Cannon attaches to Aang's back securely. The two air cannons can pivot, and Aang can hold onto pegs at the bottom.</p>
<div align="center"><div class ="giImageBlock nowrap"><div class="one-image">

                              <a href="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery/Toys/Mattel/Avatar/AirCannonAang/P9171042.jpg.html" >

      <img src="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery2/gallery/d/50023-5/P9171042.jpg" width="500" height="375" class="giThumbnail" alt="Air Cannon Aang" longdesc="Air Cannon Aang"/>
    </a>

   </div>
</div></div>
<p>Each Air cannon fires a spring-loaded missile. The missiles are launched by pressing a button on top of the Air Cannon. As an added bonus, the cannons light up and flash blue when the missiles are launched. The missiles do not launch very far, unfortunately.</p>
<p>Also included are three targets for Aang to shoot at. You have to get pretty close to the targets to hit them as the missiles don't travel very far.</p>
<div align="center"><div class ="giImageBlock nowrap"><div class="one-image">

                              <a href="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery/Toys/Mattel/Avatar/AirCannonAang/P9171046.jpg.html" >

    </a>

   </div>
</div></div>
<p>It's a pretty innovative idea, because how do you replicate airbending in an action figure?</p>
<div align="center"><div class ="giImageBlock nowrap"><div class="one-image">

                              <a href="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery/Toys/Mattel/Avatar/AirCannonAang/P9171041.jpg.html" >

 This toy is so much fun. Even if you are not an Avatar fan, if you love toys, you will love this.:

 <label><p>As my son approached his 4th birthday, I was tasked with buying his presents. This was errand I didn&rsquo;t mind running. I love shopping for toys, never mind for birthday presents. </p>
<div align="center"><div class ="giImageBlock nowrap"><div class="one-image">

                              <a href="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery/Toys/Mattel/Avatar/Appa/P9171031.jpg.html" >

    </a>

   </div>
</div></div>
<p>One of the things my son and I do together is watch the Nick show Avatar: The Last Airbender. It&rsquo;s one of my favorite shows. It&rsquo;s got an intelligent story, likeable characters, and he can enjoy the show just as much as I do.</p>
<p>So when I stepped into the toy store, the logical choice was the fantastic <strong>Appa with Air Launching Aang</strong>. Appa is Aang&rsquo;s flying bison. This gentle beast is the main form of transportation for Aang, Sokka and Kitara, as they fly around the world in their quest to defeat the Fire Nation.</p>
<div align="center"><div class ="giImageBlock nowrap"><div class="one-image">

                              <a href="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery/Toys/Mattel/Avatar/Appa/P9171037.jpg.html" >

      <img src="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery2/gallery/d/49890-5/P9171037.jpg" width="480" height="640" class="giThumbnail" alt="Appa with Air-Launching Aang" longdesc="Appa with Air-Launching Aang"/>
    </a>

   </div>
</div></div>
<p>Appa measures about 13 inches long and features articulated head and legs. The head is made out of vinyl, while the rest of the body is made out of hard plastic. Appa takes 3 AA batteries and features motion controlled sound as well as Launching Aang action. If you tilt appa forward or backward, he makes different sounds. The buttons on either side of the saddle activate sounds while Aang is attached.</p>
<div align="center"><div class ="giImageBlock nowrap"><div class="one-image">

                              <a href="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery/Toys/Mattel/Avatar/Appa/P9171034.jpg.html" >

    </a>

   </div>
</div></div>
<p>The real awesome thing about Appa is the launching Aang. He&rsquo;s a fixed posed figure with a plastic propeller on top. The base inserts into the saddle, then you activate by pressing one of the white buttons. The prop will start to whirl very fast! You then press down on the center button to launch him, with sound effects! Check out the video of it here.</p>

 <label><p>Avatar: The Last Airbender, is simply one of the best cartoons on TV today. It has a great story, great characters, fantastic animation, and it doesn&rsquo;t insult your intelligence. Both a 13 year old and a 33 year old can enjoy it. It&rsquo;s one of those shows that when it ends you can&rsquo;t wait to see where it goes next week.</p>
<p>I&rsquo;ll let <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avatar:_The_Last_Airbender">Wikipedia</a> sum up the story for you:</p>
<blockquote>
  <p><em>Avatar: The Last Airbender</em> is set in a fantasy world on a planet that is home to humans, fantastic animals and supernatural spirits. Human civilization is divided into four pre-industrialized nations: the Water Tribes, the Earth Kingdom, the Fire Nation, and the Air Nomads. Within each nation, there is an order of men and women called &quot;Benders&quot; who have an inborn ability of learning to manipulate their native element. Bending is a powerful artform, combining martial arts and elemental mystics. The bending arts are waterbending, earthbending, firebending and airbending.</p>
  <p> In each generation, one Bender is capable of bending all four elements; this is the Avatar, the Spirit of the Planet manifested in the form of man or woman. When an Avatar dies, the Avatar Spirit reincarnates into an unborn baby of a mother native to the next nation in the Avatar Cycle. Starting with the mastery of his native element, the Avatar learns to bend all four elements in the order of the cycle, which parallels the seasons: winter for water, spring for earth, summer for fire and fall for air. Throughout the ages, countless incarnations of the Avatar have served to keep the four nations in balance and harmony.</p>
  <p> Set in a fantastic, Asian-influenced world of martial arts and elemental magic, <em>Avatar: The Last Airbender</em> follows the adventures of Aang, the successor to a long line of Avatars, and his friends Katara, Sokka and later Toph, and their two animal companions Appa and Momo in their quest to save the world from the merciless Fire Nation, while avoiding capture from pursuers including Prince Zuko and other hunters from the Fire Nation. Source (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avatar:_The_Last_Airbender">Wikipedia</a>)</p>
</blockquote>
<p> The show is epic in scope, I recommend that everyone watch it.</p>
<h2>  Airbending Aang  </h2>
<div align="center"><div class ="giImageBlock nowrap"><div class="one-image">

                              <a href="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery/Toys/Mattel/Avatar/AirbendingAang/P7029694.jpg.html" >

    </a>

   </div>
</div>Aang with Staff</div>
<p>Fisher Price, a division of Mattel, got the license to produce Avatar figures. They come in various shapes and sizes, but this figure is part of the basic line. I wonder why Fisher Price got the line, as Avatar is obviously aimed at older kids. I suppose it doesn&rsquo;t matter, as they did a really great job with the figure. </p>
<div align="center"><div class ="giImageBlock nowrap"><div class="one-image">

                              <a href="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery/Toys/Mattel/Avatar/AirbendingAang/P7029697.jpg.html" >

      <img src="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery2/gallery/d/40752-5/P7029697.jpg" width="480" height="640" class="giThumbnail" alt="Airbending Aang" longdesc="Airbending Aang"/>
    </a>

   </div>
</div>Aang with Glider* </div>
<p>Aang stands 6&rdquo; tall and comes with his staff, Glider (his staff transforms into this glider) and Momo, a flying Lemur. Aang can grip the staff in either hand, and can grab the glider via 2 pegs. The Momo figure is non-articulated. </p>
<div align="center"><div class ="giImageBlock nowrap"><div class="one-image">

                              <a href="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery/Toys/Mattel/Avatar/AirbendingAang/P7029699.jpg.html" >

      <img src="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery2/gallery/d/40754-5/P7029699.jpg" width="480" height="640" class="giThumbnail" alt="Momo" longdesc="Momo"/>
    </a>

   </div>
</div>Momo</div>
<p>Aang has a phenomenal amount of articulation. &nbsp;Included in the over 18 points of articulation are a chest joint and double jointed knees. Each joint is sturdy and allows Aang to achieve a fantastic variety of poses. </p>
<div align="center"><div class ="giImageBlock nowrap"><div class="one-image">

                              <a href="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery/Toys/Mattel/Avatar/AirbendingAang/P7029688.jpg.html" >

      <img src="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery2/gallery/d/40745-5/P7029688.jpg" width="480" height="640" class="giThumbnail" alt="Airbending Aang" longdesc="Airbending Aang"/>
    </a>

   </div>
</div></div>
<p> The figure is constructed of high quality plastic with painted on details. Parts of Aangs&rsquo; outfit are actually soft rubber; to allow for extreme poses while maintaining the look of the character. It&rsquo;s a really great idea, but I wonder how this rubber will fare years down the road. </p>
<div align="center"><div class ="giImageBlock nowrap"><div class="one-image">

                              <a href="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery/Toys/Mattel/Avatar/AirbendingAang/P7029692.jpg.html" >

      <img src="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery2/gallery/d/40748-5/P7029692.jpg" width="480" height="640" class="giThumbnail" alt="Airbending Aang" longdesc="Airbending Aang"/>
    </a>

   </div>
</div></div>
<p>Airbending Aang is a really great action figure, and a tribute to the greatness of the show. The toy does have a few small faults though. Firstly, while the head sculpt does look like Aang, it just feels wrong somehow. In the show, Aang is always smiling or laughing. He has a very animated face that shows extreme emotion. I find it odd that Fisher Price chose such a neutral expression for this character. </p>
<div align="center"><div class ="giImageBlock nowrap"><div class="one-image">

                              <a href="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery/Toys/Mattel/Avatar/AirbendingAang/P7029696.jpg.html" >

      <img src="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery2/gallery/d/40751-5/P7029696.jpg" width="480" height="640" class="giThumbnail" alt="Airbending Aang" longdesc="Airbending Aang"/>
    </a>

   </div>
</div></div>
<p>Secondly, Aang, could have benefited from some wrist joints. With all the other points or articulation, it&rsquo;s an odd omission. </p>
<div align="center"><div class ="giImageBlock nowrap"><div class="one-image">

                              <a href="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery/Toys/Mattel/Avatar/AirbendingAang/P7029687.jpg.html" >

      <img src="http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery2/gallery/d/40744-5/P7029687.jpg" width="480" height="640" class="giThumbnail" alt="Airbending Aang" longdesc="Airbending Aang"/>
    </a>

   </div>
</div></div>
<p>These things don&rsquo;t really detract from this great toy though, and I recommend that any fan of the show pick them up.</p>
<p> *Aang figure does not include the stand.</p>
