Sideshow continues to produce 1/6 scale action figures of Star Wars characters including the con exclusive Anakin Skywalker Sith Version.  The figures retail for about $50 a piece and feature excellent sculpting and fabric use.

Hasbro has retooled the original Kenner TIE Fighter by removing the red 'œlaser' light under the glass, and making the top hatch look more realistic.

Hasbro had a strong presence this year with a new license; Marvel Comics characters. Marvel character toys are slated for release starting January 2007.

The Marvel Legends line from Toybiz continues with Hasbro, and includes the 'œbuild-a-figure' feature. The first line consists of The White Queen, the Planet Hulk version of the Hulk, Ultimate Iron Man, XMEN III movie Beast, Hercules, Banshee, and Yellow Jacket. The build-a-figure from this line will be Annihulus.

The 2nd lineup will include She Hulk, Magento as Xorn (w/ removable helmet), XMEN III movie edition Jean Grey, Quicksilver, Thor, and Ultimate Wolverine. The build-a-figure will be The Blob. Yeah, you heard me, The Blob.

Marvel is also bringing back a fan favorite in 8' cloth costume figure much like the Mego World's Greatest Heroes, and Toy Biz's Famous Covers called the Signature Series. The figures shown are only prototypes, and I've been informed that the costumes themselves will be much better fitting on the actual production pieces.

The Spiderman Origins line has figures in scale with, and on par sculpt wise, to the Marvel Legends line and focuses on the many costumes of Spiderman.

There will also be a Spiderman version of the Operation board game. I kid you not!

Super7 Magazine rock our world at the Comic-Con

Con Exclusives:

Frankenghost. This is a new figure in the Ghost Fighter series debuted as a con exclusive, and if you look behind the figures you'll see the Frankenghost glasses modeled after the fast food premiums of yester year (think Star Wars glasses at Burger King). It comes in translucent with either oprange, or green paint ops, or an all glow version.

In the kaiju category they're offering a 'œmeltdown' version of the Marusan Godzilla

Skull toys has released a Super7 exclusive of their action figures based on the Henshin Cyborg body. The head, feet, hands, and chest are original parts.

Broccoli / Synch Point show off figures from their anime lines.

Broccoli is a Japanese company that has many different facets. They publish Manga, run the chain of Gamers stores, and own Synch-point, their international anime wing. They were displaying these figures at Comic-con but I don't know if they were for sale, or just there to show off.

In other Macross news, Toynami is producing a Hikaru pilot figure with a cloth pilot suit.

Robotech/Mospeada:

More Masterpiece additions are forth coming (no sample on display) and it's not what you may think. Sure we've all been waiting for the transformable Beta Masterpiece that we saw last year at SDCC, but that's a story for later. I spoke with Toynami President George Sohn who stated that fully transformable cyclones are planned for the Masterpiece line. As far as the Beta Fighter it may not see the light of day as a transformable masterpiece, but thoughts are being bandied around as to how Toynami can get a Beta Fighter in some form in the hands of fans that clamor for it. One possibility was a resin statue on a stand that would link with their Masterpiece Alpha Fighter.

Captain Max:

Captain Max is an original creation by Mark Nagata. The soft vinyl figure of Captain Max comes in three versions as of now; red unpainted, glow, and standard paint scheme, and all have a removable mask. Captain Max is nearly sold out, but there will be a recolor with a different helmet sculpt sometime in the future.

Xam is Captain Max's kaiju enemy (with possibly more kaiju to come). Currently there are a few versions of a small Xam vinyl with a larger version Xam with articulated claws coming soon (prototype shown) in scale with the Captain Max vinyl. The small Xam is currently available in the following colors; green with gold spray, black with silver spray, and glow with blue spray.

Licensed characters:

Max Toy's first license character is Kikaida. Currently there are two versions; original color scheme, and a clear version with cardboard printed with circuitry inside. This figure is an original Max Toy Company sculpt.

They also are offering a color variant of the CCP King Ghidorah exclusive to Max Toy Company.

Currently all offerings from Max Toy Company are soft vinyl, but Mark is toying with the idea of possibly doing plush or diecast toys in the future. Maybe a jumbo???
