Macross Plus

Macross Plus (マクロスプラス) is a four-episode anime OVA and theatrical movie in the Macross series. (1994-1995)

Three decades after the great war between the humans and the Zentradi, the U.N. government is developing new technologies to use in their transforming fighter aircraft. Two great pilots, the loose cannon Isamu Alva Dyson and the Zentradi half-breed Guld Goa Bowman, are selected to each test a new aircraft (Shinsei Industries' YF-19 "Alpha One" & General Galaxy's YF-21 "Omega One") for Project Super Nova, to choose the newest successor to the traditional Valkyrie fighter. Their own personal grudges end up disrupting the tests and wreak havok on the program. (Wikipedia)

Review: GNU-DOU YF-21 Valkyrie

The YF-21 looks nothing like any valkyrie that has come before it. It has a definite Zentradi influence to it, looking more like a Q-Rau than a Valkyrie. I'm sure this is no coincidence - it's pilot is half Zentradi.

Review: GNU-DOU YF-19 Valkyrie

The big question is - are they worth it? The GNU-DOU average about 1,000 yen (about $10) more than a Revoltech. Honestly - I think they are. They are made out of a better material, are sturdier, and are a little larger. For a non-transforming toy, the engineering is pretty complex, and the toy for the most part feels very sturdy.
