Macross
The Super Dimension Fortress Macross (超時空要塞マクロス Chō Jikū Yōsai Makurosu) is an anime television series. According to story creator Shoji Kawamori, it depicts "a small love triangle against the backdrop of great battles" during the first Human-alien war. Macross is widely considered a classic, combining giant transforming robots, apocalyptic battles, wartime romance, and victory through the use of various unconventional means, including bubblegum pop music. It features mechanical designs by Kazutaka Miyatake and Kawamori (both of Studio Nue) and character designs by Haruhiko Mikimoto. In addition, Macross created one of the first anime idols Lynn Minmay, turning her voice actress Mari Iijima into an instant celebrity, and launching her musical career. Most of its animation (with edited content and revised dialogue) was adapted outside Japan for the first saga of Robotech. (Wikipedia

When Shoji Kawamori designed VF-1J Valkyrie, do you think he had this in mind?

The VF-1J Armored Valkyrie is one of my favorite designs from Macoss, and here it is rendered in dog chew toy vinyl.

You can't deny the charm of these soft vinyl representations of classic mecha.

If you haven’t broken down and tried a Revoltech figure yet you are officially not a cool kid. I just got my hands on the Hikaru VF-1A Super Valkyrie and to be honest, it’s pretty sweet.

Yamato has been known to make some very fine, anime accurate collectibles over the last few years and in that time I have wanted a 1/48th scale Valkyrie from Macross. Can you believe the hype or is it overrated? Read on to find out. VIDEO included.

You knew it would happen. Once Kaiyodo released a Revoltech Valkyrie, there would be another and another.
It has begun… But at least they are cool toys!

What a horrible mess this is, but I’m not sure who to blame.

Not much else can be said about the famous Valkyrie design. I mean, it’s really not that different from the others aside from the head and a little bit of armor. But what is different here is that it is the first Macross toy to be part of the Revoltech line, and it arrives courtesy of HobbyLink Japan

Why some company hasn't come through and made really nice high quality versions of this mecha is beyond me.

At only about 4” tall and 3 points of articulation, it doesn’t do much. When I took it out of the bag you couldn’t stand it up due to the vinyl warping. I had to put it under a hairdryer to get it back into shape.
