The 3.75" version from the Pixar Collection would go on my list. Posable, retractable helmet dome and 1/4 the price of the Revoltech version.
Hasbro's AT AT? It's amazing and it wins in my book! I haven't played with a toy this much in years. I'm getting carpet burn from it!
Also Ultra Act's Ultraman (01) is incredibly dope. I'd like to throw a nomination in for that!
This is sort of unfair as I do not have all the figures listed. So, of the ones that I do have I gave my vote to the Composite Ver.KA Gurren Lagann. Hate the tattos, but the figure rocks!
How the heck is Revoltech Grendizer first?
...I voted for Dack. Dack was one of the few toys I bought this year that was really impressive especially for the price. Great sculpt, articulation... a long in-demand character...
Take a look at Dack - which costs between $7-9 - and the paint and articulation you get for that price. Now compare it to the other figures on this list... no contest. Dack can sit in a vehicle, can stand on your shelf and not fall apart, and you can be assured the paint won't be trash, and it won't break from normal posing.
I am surprised that Grendizer is winning this poll right now. Are people voting for "Grendizer" or "Revoltech Grendizer" - I think the former because by no stretch of the imagination was Revoltech Grendizer even close for action figure of the year. Every one of the Robot Spirits figures blew this release out of the water.
Revoltech Grendy was not my cup of tea at all despite being a huge fan of the show. That figure really feels cheap and small for the price ($30+). I thought Revoltech was supposed to be cheap action figures of your favorite characters. When the line started, I got many of the original releases for $15-19. Now you pay $30-40 each and the paint and design is even worse than before. The new Super Robot Chogokin line is only ten dollars more roughly and has die-cast and are far higher quality.
Hm. Revoltech Gamera's on there twice.
Where are the new line super robot Chogokin Mazinger Z and Great Mazinger? they did come out in 2010 right?
They'll probably be in the Chogokin category because they're die-cast metal.
I wish Figma Dragon Knight had made it on the list, it's a very pleasing figure
If it wasn't reviewed here it doesn't show up for voting here.
Kapool, purely because it's such a fun and unique design that goes back to 1986 and in all that time has been largely ignored.
Of all the Iron Man stuff you have on here, none of these were the best Iron Man action figure. Those "Diamond Select" figures were little and looked sloppy. The New Repulsor Power Iron Man was the best rendition. It was much bigger, had nice armor, great gimmicks and decent posability.
None of these would be my action figure of the year. Before any of these I would have voted for Max Factory's Imakarum Mirabilis or Figma Fate/stay night Rider. The Revoltech Yoko was a fun rendition too but not as high of caliber as the other two. Anyway, none of these are on that list.
Now that I'm thinking about it.,the Chogokin Drossel should be in this list. Yes she has metal, but in all actuality she's more of an action figure than a SOC type of category.
TOTY voting is for toys reviewed HERE, not any toy that came out this year. If you don't see something we did review in 2010 in this list keep watching we have many more polls going up.
I always enjoy this sort of poll, but I don't have a single toy on this list :(
In the end, I voted for the Composite ver.KA Gurren Lagann because I saw it at Josh's house and it looks supreme.
My vote for best figure (that I have) from 2010 is Bandai's "Super Evangelion". It hits a home run in so many ways ... packaging, articulation, visual design, color, craftsmanship... I really love this toy!!!
Super Eva on CollectionDX
